How much money has been spent demonising, ridiculing and dehumanising faces like Khaled Nabhan and Saginaw Grant? I saw this comment by a @casper.l.v on a post the other day and it hit me so hard: “My grandma was a kid when the Nazis took over Germany. She warned me about what to look out for: complacency, censorship, and propaganda. Always pay attention to who is telling you what to feel + ask yourself if you’d still feel that way w/o their justification for it.” Who is telling you 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭? This is NOT the same as telling you 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, in a fair and unbiased way and you having feelings about that then coming to your own conclusions. I think… on a more everyday scale, when we find it easy to dismiss a point of view without thought, when we find ourselves scoffing at the easy, obvious things-like they way a people look, sound, their mannerisms, their culture, when we find it easy to use an outside identity as a reason anyone from a group is “like that” in a not good way, all this without pushback, without question and without evidence except what we’ve been told to feel about it, in the stories we are told, the stories in our heads, the stories we ourselves tell, and in life, a level of dehumanisation has probably taken place. And what is happening now is a direct impact of these things. In no world where a People seen as human beings would this level of abject cruelty and horror be allowed to be inflicted on them for as long as it has, as illegally as it as with people still sitting around just casually and callously discussing semantics. In no world would this happen to a People seen as human beings. Robert Fisk was referring to journalists when he said this, that they must be “Neutral and unbiased, on the side of those who suffer.” We must learn to understand this, too. ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ɪꜱ ɴᴏ ᴛʀᴜᴇ ɴᴇᴜᴛʀᴀʟɪᴛʏ ɪɴ ꜱᴛᴏʀʏᴛᴇʟʟɪɴɢ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇxᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴊᴜꜱᴛɪᴄᴇ.

Some beautiful moments. Just a reminder also to learn to listen to your body!! Am currently recovering from an asthmatic cough that I think got far worse than it needed to get because I didn’t listen to my gut fast enough and change a medication that wasn’t working for me. I think it was making it worse, but it may have been a coincidence with another condition, whatever it is, it definitely wasn’t making it better. But I ignored my gut and took it for a few more days, which just exacerbated whatever this is. It’s been 1.5 weeks and 3 doctors. Urgh. I think back to the time when I told the doctor the steroid he gave me to stop my cough was making it worse and he said, no way, cannot be, it’s supposed to stop the cough. I know. But it wasn’t. It became this uncontrollable hacking cough until I stopped the medication. And then another time when a longterm medication I was on gave me depression and unexplained weight gain. And this doctor said no way, cannot be. It’s the safest on the market. True, but it didn’t work for me. And then I found whole forums of people who had the same problem with the medication. It got so bad that eventually I decided to stop it, and it went away. I’m all about trusting people in their professions, which is probably why I also stuck it out longer than I should have in some cases, but I wonder also if there’s something to be said about trusting people in their bodies. This is why I’m just so grateful when I find a doctor who actually listens, YOU GUYS MAKE SUCH A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE, I HOPE YOU KNOW.

Ooh, what do we have going on here? Congratulations on the launch of the Cultural Extravaganza, @singaporechineseculturalcentre !! The region’s flora and fauna expressed in Chinese calligraphy in an exhibition by @siawtao , it also tickled me to see a scene of mynahs feasting on a plate of food in a hawker centre, the ethereally elegant @singaporecdt with the ever exciting @thetengcompany , forbidden love stories in Durian Groves by Hao Hao Studio, A raucous techno White Dragon dancing to the great Singapore workout in a Taoist Temple with @toyfactorysg , hosted by the ever wonderful @dannyyeo_yangjunwei , what a night! Just a little taste of what there is in store for the month of May till the 7th of June. (Included a little taster for you!) There is also a musical showcase by @singaporechineseorchestra that draws on sculptural works by Cultural Medallion recipients ✨ Many innovative takes on Singapore Chinese Culture, there’s just so much to explore!! Extravaganza indeed. SCCC is going to be buzzinggg, some of these performances are one night only, don’t miss out!! More info at singaporen.sg/ce ! #sp

Hellooo my dears!! It’s been a while since I’ve done my own post. You know when you have so much to say, and also nothing to say? I’ve been listening to so many things, and I do wanna connect with people and discuss things, but it also feels a bit scary to REALLY get into it sometimes. Anyone else? Was just taking a moment with these soul searing, life giving works by @citrasasmita_work , feeling the power and warmth of womanhood. Burn what’s not needed, destroy the false narratives, gather around the fires of ancestral wisdom, remember our strength, forge new paths. It felt fitting to have this post dedicated to women. It’s been a really rough one in women related news. Saw this quote the other day, not sure who it’s from, but it said “Half of the world are mothers. The other half are their children.” I wish there was a way to track our immediate, visceral response to this quote versus when we hear “It’s a man’s world”. Anyway, here’s sending you all a whole tonne of love!! 🔥🔥🔥

𝙄𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙, 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚? This work was first thought of more than a year ago with the question above. When contemplating how to respond to the Genocide, Heng Leun and Rizman invited six writers - A Yagnya, Haresh Sharma, Nabilah Said, Neo Hai Bin, Oon Shu An, and Zulfadli Rashid - to write short lectures on Genocide, giving shape to the work’s title. In this little island of Singapore, any conversation about Gaza is always conducted with so much caution. Warnings from the government that instead of calling out the injustice, we should focus on humanitarian efforts. This work focuses on this disquiet, deafening and alienating silence on Genocide in Singapore, and maybe even in many parts of the world still. 6 Microlectures on Genocides returns to Singapore following its tour to Taipei and Busan. The performance premiered in Nepal at the International People’s Theatre Festival in March 2025. 𝟲 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 📆: 21 - 23 May 2026, 10pm 📍: Practice Space, 54 Waterloo Street Tickets now available in the link in our bio

26 performances later, we’ve officially closed The Christians! 💛 Thank you all for coming to church with us and for being a part of our congregation these past few weeks. It has been a privilege to share this play with you. To our incredible company of The Christians, onstage and off: thank you for the honesty, care, and craft you brought to every performance. Lucas Hnath’s powerful play asks hard questions and offers no easy answers. It asks us to hold space for doubt, for disagreement, for the people we love who see the world differently. We hope the play has made room in you for doubt, for questioning, and for grace, and to see each other with a little more empathy. The love and support you’ve shown this production has meant the world to us. Thank you. 🙏 ⛪️ “A church is a place where people go to see something that is very difficult to see. A place where the invisible is – at least for a moment – made visible. The theatre can be that too.” — Lucas Hnath
