I DON’T KNOW WHAT THESE ARE.
Sometime in May, I was idle, alone, then decided to take portraits of myself (because my friends don’t let me take portraits of them).
Not “selfies”, portraits.
(l don’t know why I typed this laughing).
So I set up;
- My plain black backdrop,
(since @propahyard1 is taking his time with our custom made white one🙄).
- One strobe light.
- Canon 5D Mark IV, with a 70-200mm lens, on a tripod.
- Colors are from photoshop.
I took over 200 portraits.
None of them came out as I imagined in my head.
None. Of. Them!!
Hence the opening sentence.
PROPAH YARD!
A conscious African man with his originality embedded in his identity.
Propah chose art as a form of expression and service to mankind.
His words;
“I’m an African man. My look is a result of my roots.
Our forefathers didn’t shave nor cut them hair. They wore it how they liked.
This is a representation of where I come from.
People see me sometimes and wonder. Some even withhold services because of “fear”.
But this is who I am. With time,they come to realize that.
My motivation for art comes from the fact that every piece has a direction.
I take advantage of items that are considered “waste”.
I transform them to artistic materials.
I contribute to my quota to art,by making my own.
My message to the world is that we are all one.
Though we may differ in color (races), we all bleed the same.”
