#UnsocialAesthetics Showcase 3.0/SolarFive
Unsocial Aesthetics is a creative agency & archival initiative by Chicago artists & creatives made to elevate community storytelling & activism in Chicago..
We are so excited that SolarFive will be helping us to announce our next showcase to celebrate our platform..
@solarfive comes from a certain wave of the blog era that was creating timeless hip-hop at a time where drill music was more celebrated. SolarFive along with Mick Jenkins, NoName, Dally Auston, Green Sllime and others kept a steady pace with the boom bap sounds they were making as HurtEverybody kept paving the way for alternative hip-hop in the scene/industry. What might not get enough acknowledgment is just how amazing of an artist/mentor SolarFive really is.
SolarFive has always been the big sensei type of artist in the creative community, but he has mentored some of the cities very brightest when it comes to uplifting the blog era & the current scene as well..
Even more importantly his bar play has always been important to talk about because his storytelling truly is amazing. All of this being said some of SolarFive’s orgins of Kummba Lynx and being a teacher in Chicago makes him one of those unique OG’s that has really contributed to the foundations of emcees and the open mic scene..
From his own contributions to Chicago hip-hop with his “88 Soul” release, to his production contributions to Mick Jenkins project “The Waters”, to his recent release this year which received high remarks from BandCamp “Please Don’t Get Cocaine in The Faders”. SolarFive is in a league of his own and he’s just getting started..
All taking place at @subtchicago
Sounds by the legendary @djskoli
Hosted by @ninidoesnini & @thoughtpoet77
