100+km day, average speed was 27km/h, that's how much wind we had traveling the same direction as we did. as there was absolutely nothing to hide we cycled 2km away from the main road into the steppe where we crouched in the small shaddow the bike plus tripod and towel provided. despite the long distance we made, there was still hours of sun! đź“· by @italy2nepal . . . . . . . #worldbybicycle #cycletouring #cycling #biketouring #bikepacking #bikewander #worldbybicycle #pedalpower #pedaltheworld #radreise #velo #bisiklet #azerbaijan #steppe #desert #cycletheworld #adventuretime #biketocamp

Aserbaidschan. I left Georgia thinking that I will be alone for a very long time. didn't happen. I met with David after ONE day of cycling alone and to be honest I was glad we met again. after three weeks in Tbilisi it was nice to have a partner in crime -to find a route, a camp and the next pit stop snack is just nicer if you can share it. at least that's how I felt. for sure Aserbaidschan has a lot to see but we kind of rushed through the country which was fine for me. I even skipped Baku but i will definitely come back to geroegia though so Baku will be in reach again. for the first time on my trip I saw a camel, something that would be almost boring a couple of days later but at the time I was super exited for the camel made me realize how far I actually made it! also, the seemingly endless steppe was something very new for me. some people skip this environment for they say it's boring- I think it's beautiful! . . . . . #biketouring #bikepacking #worldbybicycle #aserbaidschan #travelbybike #worldbybicycle #velo #cycletouring #cycletheword #pedaltheworld #bisiklet #roadtrip #bikewander

Northern Georgia where Russia is only a stone's throw away and mountains are very high. to be honest, I didn't cycle up there and that's ok for me. It was a nice little roadtrip to stepantsminder and a welcome change to all the time I had spend in Tbilisi already. ... in the end it was about three weeks in Tbilisi and yes, I got a bit lost there after everyone I traveled with for the last two months ( @cyclicle ) was gone and I needed some time to plan my next steps. . . . . . . . #travelgeorgia #travel #georgia #explore #roadtrip #trip #

A few shot taken on the way from Batumi to Tbilisi. 1and2: this little boy followed us through his village and seemed to be very interested in our pack. the landscape around reminded me a lot of the Alps close to Munich. just the building style was different and you wouldn't spot a mosque in the alpes. 3and4: @cyclicle on the top of goderzi pass (~2000m a.s.l.) where we planned to camp but decided it would be better to leave the snow behind. on the way down we all went for a little swim in those massive puddles you see in the last post. 5and6: somewhere in between Bojormi and Tbilisi. a shepherd guarding his herd. I waited for the rest of my own herd and took the picture. for many days we had a good few towards the Caucasus. . . . . . #biketouring #bike #biketravel #cycletouring #worldbybicycle #worldbybike @bicycle.cafe #bikewander #bikepacking #travel #georgia #humanpoweredadventures

Already in a rush to get away from the snow in daylight we were held back many times for parts of the dirt road had simply turned into rivers due to the melting snow. We all had drenched shoes and freezing feet but it was definitely one of the best downhills so far. @bicycle.cafe #biketouring #bikewander #worldbybicycle #bikepacking

just before reaching Hopa we had to decide. first option was a 5km downhill tunnel. second option another 280m uphill and then the final down towards the black sea. i was super tired already for it was a pretty long day to this point but Joey convinced to go for option 2 and it was totally worth it. half way to the top we stopped at this beautiful little tea farm. we had a good chat with the owner who also is a warmshowers host and we actually had seen his profile some days before. despite the delicious tea he is famous for his potato chips which we couldn't try in the end for we had to continue. the next 20 km was a beautiful down hill through a valley full of tea, smoke and red "Fargo" trucks. what a precious last memory of Turkey. #turkey #travelturkey #bisiklet #biketouring #biketravel #bikepacking #worldbybicycle #tea #farm #green #harvest

on the final downhill when we eventually left the Turkish plateau. we climbed it just after Antalya and stayed above at least 1000a.s.l the whole time (I think) within two days we went from 2400 a.s.l. to 0 at the black sea. đź“· by @platypus_jo . . . . #biketouring #biketravel #worldbybicycle #bikewander #cycletheword #cycletouring #bisiklet @bicycle.cafe @bikewander #travelturkey #turkey @hyphensports #pedaltheworld @ortlieb_waterproof #bikepacking #helmetup

a couple of weeks ago I was invited to a school in gencek, a small village near beysehir. me and Joe met the school's english teacher and the principal in a small restaurant where we had lunch. they told us how all the kids love cycling and how great it would be if we'd come along for a chat with the kids. so I ended up in front of about 40 amazing young students and they all where very interested in our story. they go on day trips with their sports teacher from time to time and decided to ride with us for the first 5km out of gencek and took us to the village's landmark, a big tree called "the five siblings". check the story highlight at @cyclicle to see more pictures of the day. ps: thanks for the food and the invitation again🙏 yesterday we got invited to another random school on our way. a completely different story to tell though. #biketouring #biketravel #turkey #worldbybicycle #bisiklet #roadtrip #bikewander #cycletouring #cycletheword #pedaltheworld #helmetup

Turkish men organising reed grass they harvested from the waterfront of lake beysehir. the reed will be used for natural insulation and thatched roofing in europe. in addition to all the amazing landscapes I see from my cockpit and uncountable glances into backyards, opened windows and interested faces it's good to stop sometimes and take in an integral scene for more than a second.

Day 120. here is a little overview of my route so far. I wanted to share something like this many times before but it never seemed to be the right moment. yesterday I arrived in capadocia though. not only that I was very keen to see this beautiful place on earth, I also hit 3500km. there is people who did more in less time and people who cycled that distance times 5 and more but I'm proud I made it so far anyways. also, who knows where this will end up in a couple of months. •green = wild camp •pink = payed •yellow = couchsurf or warmshowers •brown = payed camping •blue = invited from locals •red and purple = random tips and info random facts: •top speed is still 73km/h from a downhill in Albania •3500km total distance •26000m of elevation climbed •1500 a.s.l was the highest point I have been with ülk so far p.s.: the balloon shots will obviously follow soon 💥 #biketouring #biketravel #worldbybicycle #worldbybike #bikewander #bikepacking #world #neverstopexploring #bisiklet

the reason why I sit awkwardly in the middle of the road ? we stopped to wait for the rest of the pack as we just did the last meters of uphill for the day. I only unclipped one shoe though and ate shit when I tried to get off my bike. also it happened for the second time in one day so I felt insanely stupid. I turned around and saw Joe with his camera in his hands an a massive smile on his face for he witnessed my stupid fall and took this picture. neither myself or Ăślk got injured and anyways the day was too beautiful to be grumpy as we where about 2km away from the place we chose for the night later on. We had a pretty tough uphill for almost the whole day which we started super late after @xavantures had to clean their bikes and @cyclicle had two punctures within 2km. the downhill we eventually had was the most scenic one on this trip so far though and while I was cruising down I hit 3000km total distance. obviously that's the reason why I was still smiling after an incident that could have been the end of this trip. #bikewander #velo #bikepacking #biketravel #worldbybike #bisiklet #cycletouring #biketouring @bicycle.cafe #helmetup
