Had a great time at the Miller Theater seeing @twentysidedtavern ! The production was terrific, the cast nailed it, and audience engagement via @gamiotic was seamless. Tonight's session involved a loquacious, bombastic clam as the #BBEG (stat block included), a Bell of Living Mas (which conjured various Taco Bell items every time anything rang), and 2 consecutive Nat 20's on a disadvantaged death saving throw(!)
Today's my last scheduled shift in Center City (for now, I'll probably wind up covering on occasion).
Tomorrow, I'm taking on the AGM spot over at Barcade Fishtown. While this location has certainly brought its own unique challenges, I'm grateful for the opportunity it gave me to refocus on the aspects of hospitality that attracted me to the industry in the first place. 👍🤘🍻
Took a little 450-mile jaunt back and forth to Harrisonburg, VA, yesterday to finish up the right armpit with @timothyhoyer at @alleycattattoo . Would have loved to stick around town longer, but there's lots going on in Philly.
I took advantage of a day off yesterday to cruise around my ancestral homeland of the Garden State.
The first stop on any of these sojourns quickly became @alkemycoffeeco once they opened up. Located a few minutes from my folks in Flemington, it's a great spot to grab a coffee and a locally-baked pastry, and you might run into @benweinman behind the counter if he's not on tour!
After a quick check-in with my family, it was another short drive north into Clinton to Tres Hermanos to get lunch with my buddy Jim. Jim's one of my oldest friends, going back nearly 30 years. We still get some online gaming in semi-regularly, stomping 'nids in Warhammer 40k and hopefully getting back to some D&D dice rolling soon, but opportunities for some facetime aren't as frequent anymore, so it was great to sit down for a few hours over some tasty grub and shoot the shit in person.
The final stop took a trek out to Atlantic Highlands to Carton Brewing, where my bud Chris recently started holding down the taps a couple of nights every week. Chris and I went to college together, and I'm hard-pressed to think of who I've gone to more shows with over the years. Carton has continued to crank out outstanding beer for years on end, and my favorite sample on this visit was the To Be Blunt rauchbier brewed with marshmallow. I snagged a couple bottles of their Daddy Jones cognac-barrel-aged wheat wheatwine to add to my stash, too.
One armpit down, one to go. Perpetual thanks to @timothyhoyer for the stellar work. 3 sittings over 1/8, 3/4, & 3/6/25. Ample breaks taken to stretch and laugh, in equal measure. Always a good time.
Cut out of my bar shift a little early today and got to catch up with all these familiar faces. Tags not applied to protect the guilty. Very grateful to see these folks and a BUNCH of others over the weekend. #barleywinehappened
Another quick jaunt to Brooklyn to see @timothyhoyer carve up the back of my neck at @good_luck_nyc . In reverse this time: finished > shading > lining > draw-on > surprise Rebel appearance!
