Exciting things are happening in our teen studios this spring!
Across One River, teen artists are creating original work inspired by contemporary artist @danielheidkamp , transforming personally meaningful spaces into bold, expressive works of art.
This project will culminate in a nationwide teen exhibition featuring thousands of young artists. Eight students across One River will be selected for “Best in Show” by Daniel Heidkamp and invited to a once-in-a-lifetime studio experience with him in Brooklyn this summer.

We’ll be drawing from the museum’s iconic collection: figures, form, proportion, gesture, shading, guided by one of our practicing artist-educators who knows how to make a world-class museum feel like your own personal studio.

We want to take a moment to recognize every student, family, organization, and host who brought the One River Kindness Project to life this year. 💙
Now in its 12th year, this project continues to grow in ways that are hard to fully capture, thousands of artists across all of our locations, connected through one simple but meaningful idea: spreading kindness and acceptance for people with autism.
Throughout April, students in grades 3–12 created and shared original artwork in support of Autism Acceptance Month and displayed the work throughout NY, NJ, CT, IL, TX and OR. Inspired by contemporary artists Rebecca Burgess and Kate Cosgrove, students used symbols, color, and personal storytelling to explore empathy, inclusion, and human connection.
