Pictures of a post tensioned deck showing the live end item 1) and the dead end item 2)
Live end: Means the end of where we actually stress or “stretch” the prestressing strands and the dead end is the part that is anchored on the other side into the concrete. So when you stress the at one end, that is the live end, they do not pull through because they are embedded into the concrete at the dead end.

Thought this may be of interest. Lots of reinforcement for this very deep beam spanning over a very large opening at Hawthorn Road, Caulfield South.

One of our projects on Hawthorn Road, Caulfield which is a mixed use development over three levels of basement with a roof just about to be poured. Totally precast façade as you can see, will be a nice looking building when completed. We have another similar building opposite which is at level 1 at the moment. #hawthorn#melbourne#engineer#engineers#engineeringlife#consultants#contruction#build#structural#civil#life#glen#southeastwater#merbo#ewertleaf#gleneiracitycouncil#melbourn#australia#oneillgroup

Interesting photo of the basement retention of what we call
You can see from this photo the follow elements
Item 1) - Strip drains between each pile to pick up any water which builds up behind the wall.
Item 2) The bored piers which are pre-drilled and filled with concrete, typically 600m diameter at 2.4m centres.
Item3) - The temporary post-tensioned ground anchor which holds the soil behind the basement wall until such time as permanent support is provided.
Item 4) - The perimeter capping beam which spans between the bored piers, supporting the ground floor slab and walls.

A project that we completed a few years back but very interesting. Very upmarket high end home in Toorak which you can see backs onto the Yarra River.
What you can't see is the cantilevered pool straddling over the cliff face which caused us a few headaches. #oneillgroup#engineering#engineer#consulting#melbourne#australia#design#love#designer#home
Fitzroy House Argyle Street Fitzroy, completed about a year and a half ago for Piccolo House Developments. There were a few challenges with this project as we had to retain the existing façade and integrate with the new building.

We finished this a few years ago, a beautiful building that is nestled amongst the natural landscape.

Calling all wine lovers.
The recently completed winery building for Levantine Hill Estate.
There was some interesting gymnastics with the structural steel framing as you can see, the final outcome making a very bold statement and addition to the Yarra Valley
Almost complete, "industria" is a boutique development of over 80 industrial warehouses and offices in Braybrook. #indutria#victoria#melbourne#engineering#consultancy#braybrook#warehouse#office
Just about to open its doors. The Standard Hotel "in Rose Street Fitzroy, is one of our latest hotel projects. The facade is constructed out of corten steel which over time exhibits rusting and is a feature of this building. #rosesstreetvictoria#fitzroy#victoria#australia#oneillgroup#engineering#consultancy
