Some straight ahead (mostly) American metal to get pumped up to today. In 2014, former Machine Head/Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader (Montréal, Canada) formed a band after some downtime; he was joined by vocalist Lauren Hart (Anaheim, California, but raised in Australia), and bassist Damien Rainaud (New Caledonia, Nouméa). Original guitarist Skyler Howren was replaced by Max Karon (2016), and original drummer Ralph Alexander’s Spot is now filled by Dillon Trollope (2015). Phew. Once Human recently released, “Scar Weaver,” their third full-length album.
Once Human has built a strong fan base, thanks to touring with Fear Factory, having Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn featured on a track on “Scar Weaver” (“Deadlock”), oh, and having really good music! Hart can growl with the best of them, and if you don’t believe me, take four and a half minutes and check out, “Scar Weaver,” the self-titled track from their February 2022 album. This song is a heavy hitter from the opening note, and displays Hart at her growliest. Please let me know how hard you headbang during the minute long outro in the comments. Fans of this genre are gonna love this great song.

Look what just arrived , the new @oncehuman album #scarweaver, band formed by the original Machine Head Axeman, Logan Mader 🔥
I'm totally obsessed with it, everytime I play it, I find new amazing parts, the guitar work is out of this world and the female growls are brutal as hell.
This is hands down one of the strongest progressive / modern metal releases I've heard
The second track, Deadlock has a guest well known, Mr. Robb Flynn and it rips 🤟🏻
