“Irene Kostas, creative director and founder of Onar Studios, another label featured at Paris Fashion Week, agrees. “As a woman creative, entrepreneur and mother, I believe I understand the needs of a woman and the needed design solutions as we navigate between our different roles,” she says. While she doesn’t see gender as a defining factor in her work, she acknowledges a core challenge behind the gender gap in leadership.
“My sex definitely became more relevant when I became a mother three years ago,” says Kostas. “It’s not always easy to be a mother in this demanding industry, and one needs to be creative in every aspect of life.” She argues that for women to ascend to leadership positions in fashion, companies must overhaul their structures to accommodate personal lives alongside the industry’s relentless pace – a challenge echoed across many sectors.”
