On1 and SPD link up to release a lost dub and two fresh originals.
'Hurt this' was produced by the duo around 18/19, gracing sound systems of East/South London before being lost until now. The track is dark yet playful, where steppy drums meet hollowed, distorted square waves and snippets from the iconic Sidewinder. The melodic elements and fx are simple and effective, keeping the track moving.
'Somewhere' by SPD focuses on the UK Broken beat side of garage, deep chords and housey stabs lead to a punchy bass line which is there as much as a rhythmic element as low end, complementing the drum work and vocal chops.
The smokers dub 'Intermission' by On1 rounds off the release, with classy and ever moving 2-step drum patterns sitting above dubby low end, backed by cold, stripped synth work and fx.
