What a beautiful celebration of Mother Earth Day here in New York City. I am most definitely a mountain and nature person, much more than a city person, so it’s also always a good spiritual challenge to connect with my deep love for Mother Earth in the midst of Manhattan! I was honored to join the Times Square, Earth Day celebration with @ommmpresents . (See the full live stream posted on my page about 10 hours ago for the full speech.) to share about the steps we can take to eat, dress, and live more consciously with our spiritual awareness of our interconnection and awareness with the planet. Prior to that, the day began with my beloved friend @mikiagrawal , whose new company @hirodiapers is producing not only the first unbleached, all natural diaper, but also a diaper with mushrooms that actually bio degrades and eats up plastic in landfills! Imagine throwing away your baby‘s diaper only for that diaper to become the solution to the plastic in the landfill where the diaper ends up! Miki hosted a small, private high-level media event that I had the joy of attending and sharing an opening blessing, prayer and message on interconnectedness and sustainability. The day ended standing beside my beautiful friend @kunalsood.ai in an intimate satsang gathering he curated. I shared my personal story as well as thoughts, musings and teachings around the importance of community, consciousness, and reclaiming the power of our own minds as tools in our hands as we navigate our lives — for our ourselves, our communities, our country, our planet, and the future. As we spoke about AI, I shared that we must stop outsourcing our intelligence! AI is a fantastic tool to help us and do a lot of things better and faster than we can. But intelligence is a tenet of a deep, meaningful and successful life. We must stop outsourcing it to ones and zeros and algorithms! I pray you all had a beautiful Earth Day as we allow the remembrance of our responsibility to this earth and to the future to reverberate through our minds, hearts and lives. At the Amazon River in Bolivia, Abuelo Francisco Balboa offered a prayer in his indigenous language, Aymara. And at the sacred UNESCO World Heritage site, Samaipata, we made offerings to Pachamama, Mother Earth, in the Andean tradition, an act of reciprocity through food, flowers, and prayer. We came not to perform, but to listen. To give a concert to nature. To remember what has always been known. That nature responds to love and intention. The abuelos of the Amazon and Andes carry this wisdom as a living practice. Not theory. Not concept. Relationship. This Earth Day in Times Square, we gather to remember.
