in December 2023, in the dark Dutch winter
with war raging in my homeland - each
tune a different path of bringing light
and reducing the numbness one feels when
there’s too much bad news and constant lack
of sunshine.
Some of it tries to reach ecstasy, some of it
brings center and some of it god forbid even some fun.
I hope this music brings you peace - even if

Omer Govreen é um jovem contrabaixista em crescente afirmação na cena europeia, com residência em Amesterdão, Países Baixos.
Lançou recentemente All Things Equal, o seu primeiro álbum enquanto compositor principal e líder de banda, em que se destaca pela sua sofisticação harmónica.
Cada vez mais requisitado, tem visitado Portugal com frequência, colaborando com músicos como José Soares, João Pereira ou João Paulo Esteves da Silva.
Instrumentista de excelência - com um som profundo e amadeirado, um toque preciso e uma afinação excecional - e igualmente à vontade a tocar standards, composições originais ou improvisação total, foi apontado como “um músico com o potencial para se tornar uma referência do contrabaixo jazz no século XXI” (jazz.pt).
O formato solo, maioritariamente improvisado, é uma das suas mais recentes apostas.

Omer Govreen is one of Amsterdam’s most in-demand bassists, and also an accomplished composer and bandleader (Omer Govreen Quartet, Garden Crack).
In his new trio he is joined by two highly creative musicians – pianist Evan van der Feen and drummer Tristan Renfrow – with whom he will play an improvised set based on fragments of his own compositions.
