The discussion highlighted the critical role lighting plays in educational facilities: from supporting student well-being and visual comfort to enhancing focus, engagement, and the overall learning experience. It was great to connect with industry peers and exchange insights on thoughtful, human-centered lighting design in schools and learning spaces.

This morning, some of our team took part in Vancouver’s Darkness Into Light walk, our second year walking together in support of mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and the reminder that no one should face darkness alone.

Last Friday, we said goodbye to Bruno Rodriguez as he wrapped up his time with O’M Engineering.
Bruno joined our team, coming from a firmware background and took on the challenge of transitioning into a new side of electrical engineering with determination, humility, and a strong willingness to learn. Over the years, he grew tremendously as an Electrical Designer and became a valued member of both our projects and our team culture.
Beyond his technical contributions, Bruno brought positivity, humour, and genuine connection to the office every day.
We’re incredibly grateful for the hard work, dedication, and energy he brought to O’M Engineering. Thank you for everything, Bruno. Wishing you all the best in the year ahead and beyond.

Completed last year, the Crofton Fire Hall upgrades in North Cowichan reflect an important investment in supporting first responders and evolving community needs 🚒
O’M Engineering was proud to support the redevelopment of the existing fire hall alongside @mgbarchitecture helping modernize the facility while maintaining operational continuity. The project focused on removing outdated electrical systems, upgrading infrastructure within the apparatus bay, and implementing a compact, flexible electrical system to support the new building wing.
These upgrades ensure the facility is better equipped to serve the fire department today and adapt to future demands.

Meet Terry Xu, P.Eng., Senior Project Manager at O’M Engineering 👋
Terry brings over a decade of experience in electrical engineering and project delivery across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, education, Indigenous communities, civic facilities, and renewable energy.
With a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from UBC, Terry combines strong technical expertise with a practical, detail-oriented approach. His experience encompasses power distribution systems, fire alarm and lighting design, as well as construction coordination.
Throughout his career, Terry has contributed to the successful delivery of complex projects, including hospital expansions, institutional upgrades, and large-scale infrastructure developments, consistently providing well-coordinated and reliable engineering solutions.
We’re excited to have Terry on the team and look forward to the impact he’ll continue to make at O’M Engineering.

O’M Engineering was proud to contribute electrical consulting services for the recent lighting upgrades at the Robson Square ice rink - one of downtown Vancouver’s most iconic public gathering spaces. Our work included reviewing the existing electrical systems, developing design drawings for new lighting power and controls, and providing permitting, bid support, and contract administration through to project completion.
The updated lighting enhances both the atmosphere and functionality of the rink, helping to ensure this community space continues to shine for years to come.
