🥖✨ A lovely Introduction to Sourdough class today! We baked our way through three different loaves and a batch of delicious sourdough crackers — all packed up for everyone to take home and enjoy. They came with brilliant questions, and I loved helping to demystify the wonderful world of sourdough together. Today’s subscriber loaves - these are Meadow Calendula Sourdough or yeasted loaves – organic stoneground white and @sourdoughschool botanical blend no. 2 wholemeal flour (spelt, blacksmith wheat, emmer, rye, naked barley, naked oats, poppy seed, buckwheat, linseed, peas, nettle, cornflower, rose petal) and Calendula petals. Calendula (or marigold) is often used in salad and is noted for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant effects and properties. 🍞 Subscriber loaves 🍞 I've been busy baking beautiful white and wholemeal stoneground organic flours, and today's loaves are something special — loaded with chunks of Cheddar with Porter Ale. This rich, malty cheese (yes, there's Guinness in there! 🍺) melts into the crumb beautifully and gives every slice a deep, savoury flavour.
