But also, awards in this industry are weird. Some of the biggest moments often come from some of the deepest pains. “The death of George Floyd” is written on the award as the story we covered, along with my name. So yes, this is a celebration, but also a humbling reminder of a time when so many were hurting and people across the world collectively said this was not okay. I’m thankful, honored, and proud of representing that time and everyone it took to get to this moment. Most of all though I’m motivated. Job’s not finished 👏🏾👏🏾

When I was in middle school my first real exposure to news was watching Anderson Cooper cover Hurricane Katrina.
