Your new pixie cut isn’t “hard to maintain” … you’re probably just missing 1 of the 2 ESSENTIAL things most short pixies need to feel top tier.
1) A bomb cut! Most clients tend to look at the end result, meaning you look for the finished look, style or color. But most seasoned short hair stylist know that the cut is 50% percent of the battle. A great cut should NOT require you to come to the salon every week or two weeks. (Unless you want to 😉) A great cut is easy to mould, and can be wore without any styling.
2) Proper relaxer techniques. I’m not gonna lie, I hate when clients relax their hair at home. 🫠🫣 I totally get being budget friendly, HOWEVER over processed in some areas and under-processed key detail areas takes away from the overall vibe of your pixie. Allow a trained, licensed professional to do your chemical services for the best results.

Two reasons your fantasy fun colors aren’t really as VIVID as you’d like them to be…
🧡 You’re not lifting high enough. Most fun colors only pop when the hair is at a level 8 or higher. Slow down the process by using lower level developers and allow more time for the lift to work.
🧡 You’re applying on wet hair. Stop doing that. Unless you’re water coloring wigs/weaves and using translucent color from the beauty supply, (Adore, Kiss, etc) most creamy color works best on dry hair. Water dilutes the color.
Simply do a “rough blow dry” after the lightening process (just enough to get the water out) then apply heavily and allow the color to bake.
Those two things can literally make or break how rich your color turns out.

Last week a new client asked me if I did relaxers because she only saw me promote natural pixies.
I want to correct that for any new follower or client. I don’t promote one or the other, I promote OPTIONS! Everyone’s lifestyle, hair conditions and hair needs are different.
I was recently diagnosed with CCCA alopecia and for the last couple of years, whenever I got a relaxer, my hair would literally fall out. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was keeping my hair short and natural because that’s what worked for me and I hate a hot ahh wig.
I know plenty of women who may have my same condition, so as a stylist do I tell them, “Nah, I can’t do your hair!” ? ORRRRR do we figure out a way for the client to still embody their personal style?
Some people have had hair transplants, and literally can’t do the relaxers, some people just have thin hair and it’s not for them.
Some people have none of the above and want a relaxer every time it’s due for them, and all of it is completely ok!
More and more and more, clients are opting out of relaxers (or opting into them) and I’m here for whatever choice they want for their hair journey.
