Felt like an Otunba. Dressed like one.
And then came a master photographer.
Then a photo-bomber who took over the frame.
#OtunbaOlofinlua - if only I like titles…
Meet Precious Udemba, my 20-year Uber driver back home yesterday. Yes, she is female.
My first ever female Uber driver. But that’s not the thrill of it.
Her story is quite intriguing.
She was raised by a “Chosen” mother and a Deeper Life dad.
She chose her path early in life, not out of discomfort but from a seeming insatiable yearning to explore first-hand.
She wanted more…
Out hustling from about age 16, driven by curiosity, her first “job” was as a drycleaner for some Lekki women.
Despite being unusually renegade, from our conversation I got a sense of her parents’ guidance all through.
Got a more posh job at 18 as a PA.
A year later, she’s driving a rented car as Uber. And from the sound of it, she smiles to the bank weekly.
She dropped out from studying Law in UNIBEN. Reason - she wanted to hustle and school simultaneously.
Back in school now with NOUN, studying International Relations.
I asked her: what really do you want to do?
Precious: I don’t know but someday I’ll find purpose.
Some find their purpose in life at the first stroke. Many others have to explore till they find theirs.
Wherever you fall, never stop pushing for more…
Saturday 7:33 PM.
Took a walk of about 7 kilometres in my neighborhood. An adventure I had not consciously risked in well over a year.
I returned home feeling an all-time high in terms of fitness.
Sunday 5:38 AM
“Where are my limbs?” I must have loaned them out overnight. Cos the ones I attempted to move were steeped in pain.
Abi o - who send me message? 😂😂
In sweet surrender, I gave in to sleep. Only for the keyboard and guitar from the church around the corner to repeatedly sin in my ears.
@nzesylva has graciously asked me to report the musicians to their pastor (on behalf of all “neighborhood church members”). If we must entertain any noise pollution, at least it should be melodious.
How was church today?
When I count my blessings, I count you twice.
I honestly am glad you are my sister; always feels like a match made in heaven (ooops! You are my sis). I have wondered how our thoughts so seamlessly align. Could it because we both love books? (You held my hands into loving the arts actually). Oh. It’s because we both read Literature in the same two unis! Or that we both love words and the worlds they mould?
My real earliest memories were of you as a boarder in faraway FEGICOLA. For many years, you were that sibling that came home only on holidays, with her full afro hair and a mouth that kept the grinding machines busy and loud at dinner.
You were different – and I absolutely loved it. I did not realise how much I loved it till I jettisoned by lawyerly dreams to study your course in OAU, where I must have been infamous for running to eat in your Akintola Hall room almost every night. In our department, I knew I could not mess up because “Temitayo was exceptional.”
My dear Temitayo, the trailblazer, it’s been several years from those nascent days of knowing you and being held up by you. Even today, I still look up to you in many ways. You have been a pillar, my emergency plug for all sorts of situations, perhaps one of the very few humans that truly know me.
Thanks for building that brand that opened doors for me (and many), especially in the years I desperately needed to find my feet. Thanks for showing us all how champs roll – and for being a good example for integrity, excellence, and diligence.
My dear Temitayo, you are special. Thank you for the gift that you are. And as you clock the milestone of 40 today, my heart prays for you and wishes you more of God’s great grace and abundance. You shall never know a better yesterday in Jesus’ name.
Happy 40th birthday, Temitayo!
Why?
Why can’t I ask a question without it sounding like I’m questioning you?
To be honest, I’m not being rude. I’m just trying to understand.
The world’s greatest inventors started with one big question: why? (And you can learn about some of them in the @taniseries )
So, before you shut me down, remember that today’s questions may be tomorrow’s breakthrough.
Drop some of the strangest ‘whys?’ your child has asked you in the comments.

I’m not about to start an epistle on how 2023 was and what I’d like to make of 2024. Well… not so much.
The armored tank behind me in some of these pictures is symbolic of how The Most High will raise a standard against the enemy this year. Just have faith - and work.
Frame 9: How I’d look at anything that aims to trouble me this year.
Frame 10: One of the best writers of magical realism ever, Ben Okri, with whom I might share some resemblance 😃
Happy New Year 🎆🎊🎈
Not posted here this year. In that time, a lot has happened…
Meanwhile, this picture is giving some cute vibes. Abi what do you think?
Is it in order to officially say “Happy New Year”? 😂😂
#NewYearInJuly 😊

You have not clearly defined your audience.
Every message has an audience, but not every audience is for every message.
Read again…
No matter how good your message is, if you push to the wrong audience, it would be an effort in futility.
Target aright.
