I’m in a 9-month Animism study, and we begun our experiential learning this month on Dirt. I’m meditating on it every day. Putting my hands in it, laying on my belly and watching it from the eye-level of the ants who haul it to and fro. Tuning into its subtleties and variations as I travel from place to place. Just listening. This weekend @reverie.luna and I went to the Ghost Ranch labyrinth, and I felt overwhelmed by the scale of the landscape which spanned in all directions — an impossibly large sky above me and the impossibly vast landscape below my feet. We walked the labyrinth together and wove a little love into the ground with our feet. There’s this phenomenon with labyrinths where, when you reach the center, you suddenly feel ‘inside’, ‘within’. There is a distinct sense of safety which you haven’t encountered since you were last inside your mother’s womb. The perfect place to meditate on Dirt. We laid on our bellies like children and zoomed waaayyyy in, allowing each individual grain of Dirt to reveal itself to us. We met Quartzite, Obsidian, Fossils, Chert, Flint, striated Sandstones and Jasper from Jurassic periods (to name a few), all with unique personalities. My kind of meditation.
Happy Equinox, our Mother is just waking up 🌸 Go tell her you love her!!! 🪨🌏🍃꩜
As above, so below; As within, so without; As the universe, so the soul

I’ve been so busy making my own photos this year, I feel I’ve barely had time to appreciate the treasures of the public library … but here I am with a spare moment to browse @internetarchive at an inn in the countryside of England, flipping through Living with Birds by Len Howard (1963). I found this book by feeling into a pang of longing to feed and listen to the birds in our own garden…I know they’re only wonderfully present to their own realities, but I like to imagine that they miss us when we’re away. So I started researching authors who’d formed intimate relationships to wild birds, and felt a kinship to Len’s relationship to Star, a great tit (pictured on the tea kettle), and her many descendants.
playing across Asia again truly was a lucid dream in which the prevailing vibration was the deep warmth of gratitude. gratitude & sake!
