The Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce (LALCC) leadership team recently held a high-level meeting at City Hall with Mayor Karen Bass to ensure our members have a seat at the table of Los Angeles’ economic future.
Led by Chairman Darrel Sauceda, we moved beyond generalities to focus on actions that will create tangible solutions for growth for Latino-owned businesses. The Chairman focused on optimizing the use of the LISTO procurement portal as a solution platform to bridge the gap between city contracts and membership. This boutique portal, powered by the LALCC and member-driven, provided $2.5 million in contracts in the last six months. Patricia Perez, member, expanded on procurement opportunities and inquired about the availability of commission positions at the city and county levels.
Our Vice-Chair, Dorene Dominguez, provided insight into managing projects and contracts, and how selecting the right organizations ensures that projects are delivered on time and on budget; provided statistics on Latinos in California who receive few contracts. Ena Alcaraz, board director, shared her role as the chamber's lead to LA Fires, ensuring that families affected by the wildfires receive resources in their native languages to rebuild their homes and mitigate exploitation of victims.
Director, Olivia Rios, inquired about additional resources to supplement the LALCC’s technical training, certification, mentorship, and financial support to continue helping minority businesses scale and thrive, thereby uplifting the county's economic vitality. Susie Altamirano, a board member, brought to light concerns about homelessness amid upcoming world events. Ensuring that surrounding cities don’t receive the overflow of homelessness or become new encampments. Diana Rodriguez (board member) asked how the LALCC can help Mayor Bass be successful in her role.
The LALCC has been asked to take the lead in the Mayor’s Latino Summit in May. Anna Sauceda (Chair, CAB) emphasized the importance of LALCC taking a leadership role in strategically working with the Mayor's team to ensure the summit's success. The intent is to strengthen our relationship and to utilize resources.
The first of two events on the last day of Women’s History Month 2026. The Los Angeles Area Chamber hosted Women in Leadership at the historic Getty House. We convened with women from across the region to hear from and be inspired by community leaders and form meaningful connections. Maria Salinas, President and CEO, and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass shared key points on the city during a fireside chat.

A powerful display of global connections and strong alliances.
Last week, the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce and the Brazil-California Chamber of Commerce partnered for an exclusive evening of networking and collaboration with Delta Air Lines.
This was a premier opportunity for our respective members to dive deep into Delta’s world-class products and, more importantly, explore upcoming procurement and contracting opportunities at LAX and throughout the Delta’s ecosystem. Providing members with a seat at the table with global leaders is at the heart of our mission.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this impactful evening of growth and partnership!

Thank you to Olivia E Rios for the invitation and for bringing together such a strong group, along with Latino Chamber Board Member Joel Lara.
It was a pleasure meeting Delta Air Lines Seong Su (Andrew) Kim, Gloria Cuarezma, MBA, Amor Vidal Morrell, MBA, Erika Tanigaki-Luu, and Ishakeyra Serrano, and learning more about the work being done to expand connectivity and create new opportunities through LAX.
These are the kinds of conversations that turn access into action.
Looking forward to continuing the dialogue and exploring how we can help amplify these stories through California Leaders.
