With a heart full of gratitude and eyes filled with tears of pride, I stood before the City Council of Cincinnati to receive an official recognition during Small Business Month 2025. It was more than an award — it was a deeply personal moment, honoring a journey rooted in memory, love, and resilience.
As the founder of Olive Tree Catering LLC, this recognition is a tribute to the dream that began with a longing for home, a love for our traditions, and a belief that food can be a powerful bridge between hearts and cultures. What started as a small kitchen became a welcoming space — a reflection of the warmth and generosity of my heritage.
One of the most meaningful lines from the official resolution reads:
“More than a catering company – it is a testament to the strength of immigrant entrepreneurship, the power of tradition, and the beauty of sharing one’s heritage through love, nourishment, and community.”
My sincere thanks to the City of Cincinnati, to the honorable members of the Council, and especially to Councilmember Anna Albi, for recognizing the spirit behind Shajarat Al-Zaytoun – The Olive Tree.
This award is for my family, for every hand that supported me, and for every Syrian woman who dared to dream despite war, and stood strong despite exile.
