We used to sneak under the fence at the 7th hole at riviera country club under the moonlight and I knew she was taken because her blouse was tied in the back how could she have done that herself

It has been more than a year since I gambled away all my coin, lost my wife, my home, and my small cat. I have rubbed shoulders with the scummiest sleazebags and the trickiest shadesters in all of Spicewood county and I loved every minute of it!

Joseph Olisaemeka Wilson (@olisaemeka13 ) in Il Ratto di Europa, a group exhibition curated by Sarah Daoui (@sarahsadiadaoui ) & Vittoria di Savoia (@vittoria.disavoia ) at BKV, Via Fontana 16, Milan, Italy, April 18–23. Born in Los Angeles and now based in New York, Wilson builds narrative worlds that move between personal memory, historical fiction, and allegory. Working across painting, drawing, and text, his images and figures emerge intuitively, drawn from lived experience and reassembled into something both familiar and slightly out of reach. Influenced by American literary traditions, wartime histories, and the tonal language of folk, blues, and country music, his compositions are often centered on imagined or semi-mythologized figures. In the mystical song she played (2025) Wilson’s scene feels half-remembered, with sound- whether recalled or imagined- holding as much weight as the image. the mystical song she played, 2025 Oil on canvas 16 x 20 in - 40.6 x 50.8 cm Images courtesy of the Artist.

I feel so sad Celeste was one of the most gentle people I have ever met while being the most fierce gangster against all forms of injustice to people and animals . I’m so lucky to have had a chance to spend time together and talk . I’ve looked up to Celeste for 10 years since the minute I saw the incredible work they did … happy to have been swimming in the same stream .
