Sometimes I’m on TV. Since I mostly use Instagram to post obsessively about @cirquedusoleil I figured I should probably remind my small fanclub comprised of mostly people in my family— that yes, sometimes I’m on television. And sometimes it’s mainstream. And sometimes I wear a wig. And sometimes I don’t play an assistant.. actually just kidding I’m always the assistant. The strike is over. Hand me my clipboard. 🤣🎥📺🎭🎬📋
✨My first Tony Awards. For a nominated play (not musical, holy shit), that I was in…on Broadway. In a SHEIN dress with a purse that I made. In the middle of an egg freezing cycle. Two days before closing on the sale of my childhood home. All things considered-I think I look pretty damn amazing. What a time. Thank you Roundabout for inviting us. It’s all been a fever dream. I love my YELLOWFACE fam so much. Grateful to be in the room where it happened during this historic season for Asians on Broadway.
1. Gown for the win👗 but Also— the only pic I got i front of the Tony logo…..and it was insanely blurry. Thank you @bruce.locke 💻for photoshopping with AI to UnBlur. (Zoom in for an interesting version of my nose 😂📸)
2. Makeshift step and repeat when you enter at the wrong side ft. a barricade 🚓

9. @bwaysho was sitting in front of me and caught my reaction (crying & screaming) to @francisjueactor winning the Tony for Best Supporting Actor. 😭
10. The damn @sheinofficial dress deserves another pic, right?.⚡
11. Me and famous producer @dhoyos03 singing We’re All In This Together since 2007 ✈️🧳

A very belated post. But an ode to my dressing room at Yellow Face 💙💛. Pictures by @rissalavilla for @officialbroadwayworld . I made a sanctuary, a hang out, a nest— covered in photos of everyone I love. Almost 20 years since my last Broadway show, and the first time I’ve ever had my own dressing room… so I went a little overboard. 🌿🌸😌My plants now live with @marcuschoi11 over at @maybehappyending . The hanging crystals 🔮📿 went over to @_mirirai_ at @lctheater where she was doing the Blood Quilt. The Costa Rica rainforest shower curtain (not pictured) happily still resides there at the theater (I think this is now @shinamorris dressing room at Pirates!). The rock gardens and YOU GOT THIS sign are now at home with me. I don’t know if I will ever have the time or energy or the chance to do this again, but it sure was special.📿🌸🌈🏔️🎭
What an epic birthday present to get to get to work on this hilarious and relevant play, by one of our most renowned and legendary Asian American playwrights. Bonus: getting to do this with a cast full of friends, some of whom I known for decades. I received this news via text while shoveling goat poop on a farm in Costa Rica. This is my third Broadway show and my first Broadway play. I am humbled and grateful. #TeamStandby
Highly recommend doing minimal research and just getting on a plane to Central America to volunteer at a farm. I promise you’ll make friends for life and also bond extensively with goat poop. And also maybe give a horse an Asian Bowl cut BY ACCIDENT. Finca Agroecologica la Flor... Thanks for being weird and perfect and strange and mystical and minimalist and rainy and fascinating and beautiful and bizarre. Thank you for showing me a corner of the world where eveything is different. Never thought I would be home, missing the days the power would just cut out and we would play Uno in almost darkness, in a thunderstorm. But I do. Being back, my main takeaway: too many options are not always a good thing. Thank you for your epic simplicity. And forced vegetarianism 😂 I’m different now and so much better.. And Sometimes I wish I was back at Santiago, Paraiso, Cartago frente a la escuela pública de La Flor entrada calle privada. 🇨🇷🌎🌺🪷🪻🌧️ 🐛🐜🦟⛰️🐴🐐🌳🌈Highlights below:
1- Frida the horse got an Asian bowl cut. I swear. I had nothing to do with it. 🐴✂️
2- baby goats 🐐
3- Me and Edgar, matching outfits, “best ever”
4- Machete 🥒🔪
5- everyone (and it’s not 1am and no one has been drinking Cacique, I swear 😉)
6- epic view ⛰️
7- sunset golden hour☀️
8- playing celebrity with team POC (3 people) vs team Europeans (5 people) and we tied 🏅
9- yeah I lived in this room and so did a scorpion 🦂
10- Claudia, from Barcelona, my daughter, my translator and my best friend at the farm.. the smartest 22 year old I’ve ever met🇪🇸❤️
This was grid worthy. Apollo aka the mascot of the @cincyplayhouse and our Director/ Associate AD’s dog, wanted to be my understudy in VIETGONE. So we got him all the appropriate costumes and taught him the blocking, he was struggling with the lines though because he’s not that good at reading yet. Thank you @joanieandapollo and thank you @littlebowtie (our costume designer) for the original inspiration. #swipe for all the costumes. And thank you @rebmhi for letting this photo shoot somewhat take over your put-in 😂
