Velvet Sounds: A new three part series all about Czech music on @worldwide.fm ☺️🇨🇿 @zaereo from @worldwide.fm asked me a while ago if I'd be up for doing a short series focusing on Czech music. Of course I said yes, however I am in no way an expert but I do know people who are, so I've asked them for help with curating the show. First up is @olinstvi who you may have seen on one of my @balamii shows way back when and also on @myanalogjournal . He has a deep appreciation of Czech music and has an amazing ability to unroot some proper hidden gems, especially by artists who I'd otherwise dismiss as Czech cheese. In this episode he zones in on the music that was produced in 70s and 80s Czechoslovakia, a time when we were under the rule of communism and which ended in the Velvet Revolution in 1989 (hence the name of the show). Lots of weird and wonderful disco, boogie, but also rock, jazz, and other bits I don't know how to categorise. It's a great show, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it whether or not you are Czech.
