M Bovary Inspired by Madame Bovary (1856) and the timeless complexity of Gustave Flaubert’s book, this fragrance captures the tension between desire and attraction . It opens with a sparkling, aromatic breath of lavender, lavandin, basil, spearmint, and anise, lifted by shimmering aldehydes and airy aquatic nuances. A restless beginning, echoing Emma Bovary’s longing for more. At its heart, romance unfolds. Jasmine, Madagascar ylang-ylang, and Moroccan rose blend into a soft floral sweetness, layered with unexpected depth: smoky Lapsang Souchong tea and a handcrafted cacao tincture. Hints of honeysuckle, cinnamon, and black pepper add warmth, while sandalwood and cashmeran wrap everything in a quiet, intimate embrace. The base reveals the truth beneath the dream. Patchouli and Bourbon vetiver ground the composition, while civet and castoreum introduce a subtle, seductive tension. Vanilla and coumarin soften the edges, as geosmin and incense bring a lingering, almost spiritual melancholy. Crafted over three years with more than 90 ingredients and matured for months, M Bovary reflects emotional complexity in its purest form. Limited to 500 bottles! A fleeting dream… captured in scent. Peter de Cupere | Fondazione Maddalena di Giacomo Synaesthesia is more than a concept for us; it is a core lens through which we perceive the world. This is why we feel a profound kinship with the practice of Peter de Cupere. For over twenty years, de Cupere has challenged the traditional “visual-only” art world by creating works that engage the olfactory and tactile senses, blurring the lines between what we see and what we feel. A stunning example of this is his project ‘Chasing Flowers’ for Coup de Ville in Belgium (2020). In the sacred atmosphere of the church, he installed Fragum Cardamomi — a monumental, 9-meter-high sculpture with a scented surface. By placing this sensory giant within the historic silence of a Belgian church, he invited us to “inhale” the architecture and rethink our connection to nature and heritage. He reminds us that art need not be distant or static; it can be breathed in, felt, and carried within us like a memory. #FondazioneMaddalenadiGiacomo #PeterDeCupere #VeniceExhibitions #Synaesthesia #ContemporaryArt

As the year fades into memory like scents also do, I look back on 2025 with a heart full of passion and quiet happiness. It was a year shaped by art and carried by travel, from Los Angeles through Europe, a constellation of exhibitions, projects, and shared moments unfolding across borders. Each encounter, each collaboration, left its own gentle imprint. 2025 breathed with creation, ideas taking form, conversations turning into connections, visions finding their way into the world. It was a year of resonance and discovery, of paths crossing in unexpected and meaningful ways. Now, at the edge of a new beginning, I step forward with curiosity and trust. New horizons are opening, new people await, and new challenges whisper their invitation. I embrace what is yet to come, with openness, courage, and gratitude. Let it be a fantastic year! Wishing everyone a luminous, healthy, and olfactory art-filled 2026! Thrilled to add a new masterpiece to my olfactory collection of historical documents. My latest acquisition: a remarkable 1777 edition of Traité des Odeurs, the continuation of the Traité de la Distillation, written by M. Déjean, one of the most respected distillers of his time. Published in Paris by P.F. Didot jeune, renowned printer and publisher of the Faculty of Medicine, an impressive 492 pages of in-depth knowledge. What makes this work so special is that Déjean was among the earliest specialists to move beyond the purely technical aspects of distillation. He explored the philosophy and science of scent itself, how aromas behave, how they can be produced, preserved, and studied, and the role scent played in both medicine and craftsmanship in the 18th century. His writings are now considered pivotal in the transition from traditional perfumery to a more scientific understanding of olfaction. A truly inspiring addition that highlights how rich and complex the world of scent has been for centuries. #olfactoryart #olfactoryhistory #perfumehistory #dejean #traitedesodeurs #1777 #perfumebook #

Salt Flowers in the collection of @hetnieuwedomein Museum in Sittard on view in the exhibition ‘Bekijk het!’ (Take a Look). What if the rising sea became our new landscape? In Salt Flowers, artist Peter De Cupere imagines a world where the land is swallowed by salt water, where ice turns to salt, and a new kind of nature is born. White salt plants and flowers (made from glass, 2017 - 2019) shimmer like frozen memories, carrying the raw, pure scent of the North Sea, wind, seaweed, and salt. A fragrance of transformation, resilience, and fragile beauty. Now on view in ‘Bekijk het!’ (8 Nov 2025 – 30 Aug 2026) at Het Nieuwe Domein, Sittard-Geleen (NL), a playful and thought-provoking exhibition showcasing highlights from the museum’s collection of heritage and contemporary art. Featuring works by Wim Delvoye, Ulay/Marina Abramović, Rineke Dijkstra, Michel Huisman,Tomáš Libertíny, Os Gemeos, and more artists who each reflect on identity, memory, and our changing world. #PeterDeCupere #olfactoryart #SaltFlowers #HetNieuweDomein #BekijkHet #ContemporaryArt #ArtExhibition #SittardGeleen #ClimateArt #NorthSeaScent #RinekeDijkstra #WimDelvoye #MichelHuisman #OsGemeos #Ulay #MarinaAbramovic #TomasLibertiny #ArtAndNature

Drawings You Can Smell At @leostevens_vermogensbeheer visitors can experience art in an olfactory way. In ‘The Art of Value, Through Scent’, I explore the connection between value and smell, in art, in the world, and within yourself. Curated by @studiokoenvandenbroek Visitors can experience new scent drawings that invite you not only to look, but also to smell and pause, re-think for a moment. You smell the paper money of a twenty-euro note that, like a fragile paper boat, braves a storm. The metallic scent of a coin from which a young plant emerges. The salty air of the sea carrying a one-dollar bill as a message. A scent interpretation of having your head in a pink cloud. And a drawing inspired by Jheronimus Bosch, accompanied by a mysterious fragrance evoking his fantastical world. Each work is a sensory exploration of value, what remains, what fades, what grows. The scent brings the drawing to life, creating a tangible experience that blurs the line between seeing and sensing. Now on view for visitors at Leo Stevens, in Antwerp, BE. An experience that lingers, in the air and in your mind. With thanks to @stevens_ingrid_ and @studiokoenvandenbroek for the fine collaboration and invite. #leostevens #theartofvalue #peterdecupere #olfactoryart #antwerp #art #kunst #lsart #scenteddrawing #scentdrawing #olfactorydrawing #moneysmell #money #valueinvesting #valueyourself #valueformoney #scentpolymers #olfactory3dprinting

For the exhibition Art Pops by the @belfiusartcollection , I had the honor to create last year a scent composition inspired by Brueghel’s “Garland of Fruit surrounding a Depiction of Cybele Receiving Gifts from Personifications of the Four Seasons.” This olfactory installation invites visitors to experience the painting not only visually, but also through scent. Through a fragrance filter, an interpretation of Cybele’s world unfolds an ode to fertility, abundance, and the divine cycle of the seasons. The composition is built from the fragrances of the abundance encircling the canvas: ripe fruits such as apple, pear, citrus, grape, peach, and quince; field vegetables, grains, herbs, and floral notes of rose, carnation, and daisy. Together, they form a vibrant tableau of natural richness. The scent reveals itself in three layers: a fresh, woodland opening with hints of morning dew and petrichor; a heart filled with fruits, vegetables, and flowers; and an earthy base breathing the fertility of the soil. A touch of white musk subtly weaves through the composition, evoking purity and a sense of elevated perfection. An olfactory translation of a painting that celebrates life in all its abundance where nature and divinity meet. The work can still be experienced in the beautiful Belfius exhibition Art Pops on 8 November and 13 December. In the group exhibition ONLY GOOD VIBES? in @weltderversuchungen I am presenting my new olfactory art installation Rrose Cloud, a pink cloud that visitors can enter by climbing a ladder to immerse their heads and experience a happy lovely scent! The work is an homage to Rrose Sélavy, the alter ego of Marcel Duchamp, and invites reflection on sensuality, identity, and the human desire to escape. Find a sense of calm, escape everyday routines, free yourself from the pressure to perform, expand your horizons. The exhibition examines how intoxication, particularly cannabis, affects our brains, bodies, and social behaviors. It asks what we seek in intoxication, why we accept its risks, and how we might find relaxation and strength beyond substances. ONLY GOOD VIBES? offers a value-neutral and non-judgmental space that combines contemporary science with art and interactive installations, encouraging open dialogue about temptation, risk, and well-being. Participating artists:
Erwin Wurm, Laure Prouvost, Daniel Firman, Martin Parr, Peter de Cupere, Pae White, Joachim Koester, Flying Steps Academy, Valentin Goppel, Jakob Grosse-Ophoff, Jill Mulleady, Yannick de la Pêche, Regina Schmeken, Vibeke Tandberg, Yosigo. Exhibition: ONLY GOOD VIBES?
