Just "Wow" unboxing this 19th century feather cape or pelerine. A little known but important activity in the back rooms of the Old Ordinary is cataloging and storing collection items. This beauty turned up for a long-awaited photo shoot this week. Popular ca. 1820-30, it is said to incorporate hummingbird, ostrich, and guinea hen feathers. The interior is lined with eiderdown tufts. It has been moved to our Hingham Heritage Museum at 34 Main Street where it will be carefully stored with other fine garments and accessories.
