It took 6 years but we never faltered from the blue print laid out by Wyld Stallyns, first we got the excellent gear with @dunable_guitars , then we learned to play, and after a series of excellent stand-ins we'd like to welcome our new and first official drummer Jun, Dan was there too but he was only able to force project for so long. EP #2 is inbound.

Mastodon was always a unifying band for us, while musically we're all different planets from the first time John and I talked about the Colony of Birchmen video it was just memory and album one after the other, Crack the Skye being a perfect album and seeing it in full at CI, bribing our way into ths vip section at Roseland directly overlooking the stage and pissing off the balcony, but this memory is an important one for me.
In 2017 I went to Philly to meet up with John and see Mastodon/Opeth/EodM/Gojira/DTP we stood at the back by a loading dock early in the show and eventually saw band members walking around behind us, after watching Brann fumble a window shade, Brent started talking to the other people in the hallway which I started to call out to him he heard his name but put his hand to his ear to signal he couldnt hear, as I tried to do charades to point at John and explain he was the reason John did half the stupid guitar riffs he does, it was just a series of charades of pointing, air guitar, and heart gestures to which Brent gave us the peace sign twice and walked away.
When the band went on I disappeared at times into the chaos but when we were standing at the back again I told John we needed to get back to music and work towards creating anything half as mystical as what we were hearing. Influential beyond belief. #Mastodon #brenthinds
I had this photo in a story during Back to the Beginning but now a few weeks later it holds a different meaning. This is undeniably a giant moment in music history, but most of the time it was an Elvis or John Lennon or Dimebag situation where a tragedy fell. This dude started it all, he lived the entire time, and he went out on top where his body probably held out just to give one last show, if Life's the study of dying and how to do it right, he did it the best.
When I met Ozzy here, I was 12 years old, holding his hand like the pope in my bootleg Metallica shirt. I remember they gave out "Holy Water Blessed By Ozzy" and he looked tired before going up, and in a lot of the photos he looks drained like anyone who had to take photos with 4000 people in a single day.
But in 2 Ive seen he was different almost like the two often reported sides of him, there's mine where he's there just full of life and me totally unaware of just how important this dude was to all the music I would love in the years that follow, how massive the Ozzfests I went to (02, 04, 05, 06) were for growing my musical world showing me classic bands and all the new bands of those days and I'd dream of being on a stage like those.
And then my uncles, he was wearing a shirt that was a road hazard sign of 2 stick figures having sex and one holding a beer with the words "Caution: Party Zone Ahead" he couldn't stop laughing and my uncles picture has Ozzy looking and pointing at the shirt.
Thanks for everything.
