Happy Final Space Friday!
I’m currently very sick 🤒I think it’s from the air quality of the warehouse so I just ordered air scrubbers and fans to get some air moving in there. The dehumidifier is rocking, that is helps keeping any moisture off the novels. BUT before I went down, I started photographing the novels and for the first time ever, I realized…I actually have a novel I can photograph. That was a surreal moment. Still have a bunch more to capture, but I’ll post a few soon. The goal is to really show off how hard @daztibbles went on this art. The colors pop. It’s vibrant. It feels like Final Space.
I read through the color version last night while doing another round of soundtrack testing, and it just keeps getting better. We’re getting the length in a good spot, we made the tracks extra long so they bleed into the next QR code. When it lines up perfectly? It’s SO cool. Seriously. It hits.
We just had a soundtrack meeting to tweak a few sounds to really punch the emotion in some key scenes. It’s those little adjustments that make a big difference.
Logistics-wise: the novels ship from the printer at the top of March. They are stickering and we had to move the sticker to the back inside cover, I’ll explain why in a video later. It’ll take about 4½ weeks to reach the distribution warehouse, and then they’ll start packing and shipping them out to all of you. I don’t have an exact date yet, but it’s looking very much like Spring. I’ll know more once they land at the warehouse.
Right now I’m deep in marketing mode. I’m also unpacking and stickering the Midnight Editions here in Nashville at extra late hours in the night so they’re ready to go when the colors arrive.
I’m also working on a dust jacket idea for damaged novels. Haven’t decided anything yet. Once I see how that turns out, I’ll add a “Battle Worn” edition to the store at a discounted price. It’ll range from Level 1 damage to Level 3 (the roughest shape, biggest discount). There’s not a lot of them but I just don’t know what to do with them. I’ll focus more on that once everything else is under control.

LOTS going on!
1️⃣ Macmillan has started shipping some graphic novels early to get a head start, the 18th is our full on shipping day but I gave the thumbs up to do what they got to do. We’re officially entering the NO SPOILER zone for a bit. There’s so much I want to talk about, but neither the official Final Space channels nor I will be posting spoilers until all pre-orders are out.
2️⃣ New tour dates dropping Monday! Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and hopefully Ottawa! (Jam Filled is looking into renting a theater to screen episodes for the event.)
3️⃣ This pop-up I got made for tour is SO cool haha. I had to order two sets of everything for the tour, to ensure I have a safety.
4️⃣ I’ll post a video Monday explaining how to read the book alongside the soundtrack. We intentionally let some songs run longer, so when you hit a QR code, scan it right away, even if another track is still playing.
5️⃣ I’m updating the commentary section in the back of the book this weekend, there’s a few things in there already. Originally I planned audio commentary only, but I figured out how to make a playlist of videos instead, which works way better.
6️⃣ “1000” the first digital expansion in the back of the book is DONE and available Day 1. The others are still in progress. Daz is coming back from a much-needed holiday and wrapping another graphic novel before jumping back in. These expansions will release in layers to keep the story going in some areas I thought would be fun to explore. “1000” alone is 30 pages…and it rips.
7️⃣ Midnight and Color editions are shipping at the same time, yes but we’ll be slower than Macmillan distribution. We’re packing things differently, and they simply have a bigger team and facility.

I walked into my house at 2:20am to a box of frozen Chicago deep dish pizzas (an elite gift) from a showrunner on one of the shows I was developing at Glitch. There was a note on it, great joke! No notes.
But that note is why I took the role as Head of Development, to help creators and remind them to have fun doing it. And I got to do exactly that. I got to build, shape, and push some really great projects forward with incredibly talented artists. From writing on The Gaslight District Season 1 to helping bring Lackadaisy Season 1 into full production, to development on some new ones and everything in between.
And after a year and a half, I’m moving on from Glitch Productions.
My path might lead me back to development. I’d love to help a smaller studio find its indie legs or build something of my own, I just want to work with cool people doing cool stuff.
But for now, I’ve got a project I started 10 years ago that’s finally coming to an end in a graphic novel...and I want to be fully there for it. I need to see it through to the finish line. I’m so close.
I can’t wait to share more soon.
