A year ago, we didn’t just start a conversation…we broke a pattern. We chose to move from silence to truth. From carrying everything alone… to holding space for one another. From “I’m fine” to “this is how I really feel.”
And something is shifting, men are beginning to show up. Stories are finding their voice, walls are starting to come down and slowly, quietly…a brotherhood is taking shape. Today, we’re no longer just at the point of commencement, we are in motion.
The conversations are getting deeper, the connections are growing stronger, the vision is becoming clearer. What started as a platform…is becoming a movement. What began as a voice…is becoming a home, and we’re just getting started. TrueTalkWithOladele is evolving into something even greater — a living, breathing ecosystem of honest conversations, healing spaces, and real brotherhood. If you’ve ever felt the weight…if you’ve ever needed a space to just be…this is for you. Step in, stay real, let’s keep building.

WHEN CONTENDERS ALIGN…YOU PAY ATTENTION
There is a level of CLARITY that only comes when ambition steps back…and CONVICTION steps forward. What we have just witnessed is not routine, it is not political courtesy, it is something deeper. A former Governor, a man of STATURE, a STAKEHOLDER with his own standing, voice, and history…choosing not just to acknowledge, but to AFFIRM. And in that affirmation, something becomes unmistakably clear: This is not about chance, this is about CHOICE; DELIBERATE, INFORMED, and ALIGNED. Because when someone who understands the terrain…who has led…who has seen the machinery of governance from the inside, steps forward to say: THIS IS THE MAN...you pause.
You listen differently, you begin to understand that what is unfolding is not just endorsement, it is VALIDATION. Validation of LOYALTY, validation of CONSISTENCY, validation of YEARS OF WORK that did not need to shout to be seen. The words speak of consultations, of unity, of progress, of dedication spanning decades.
These are not light attributes. They are the BUILDING BLOCKS OF LEADERSHIP that lasts, and this is where it becomes instructive for all of us: Because Lagos is not looking for noise. Lagos is not looking for novelty, Lagos is looking for CONTINUITY with CAPACITY. A leader who UNDERSTANDS the past, is GROUNDED in the present, and is PREPARED for the future. And when you bring it all together, the endorsement of leadership, the affirmation of peers, the visible track record of partnership, the lived experience within the system…one conclusion begins to settle, quietly but firmly: Hamzat remains the ONE. Not by sentiment, not by assumption, but by alignment of EVERYTHING that matters. And if we are honest, truly HONEST, if what we want is a Lagos that continues to RISE, not restart…that BUILDS, not experiments…that DEEPENS PROGRESS, not disrupts it unnecessarily…then the path becomes clearer than we may want to admit...👇🏾
WHAT LAGOS HAS BEEN TEACHING...QUIETLY!!!
I am not a politician, and I do not play politics.
But Lagos…Lagos will teach you. It will sit you down quietly, between traffic and triumph, between chaos and coordination, and whisper lessons you did not ask for, but cannot ignore.
Over the last few years, I have watched something unfold… not loudly, not with drama…but with a steadiness that feels unfamiliar. I have watched leadership that works together. Not in fragments…not in silos…but in rhythm. A Governor and a Deputy…not merely occupy offices…but sharing weight, thought, and responsibility. Walking together, administering together, leading together. And it makes you pause because when partnership becomes visible, when loyalty is not whispered but DEMONSTRATED, when experience is not decorative but FUNCTIONAL…something shifts. Quietly, DIRECTION begins to form. You start to realize that leadership is not just about the one in front…but the STRENGTH of those beside him. That governance is not a solo performance…but a carefully conducted orchestra. That LOYALTY is not weakness…but STRUCTURE. That EXPERIENCE is not age…but MEMORY applied with WISDOM. And then, almost uncomfortably, a question begins to rise: Why would we ever gamble with this? Why would a system that is WORKING …LEARNING …EVOLVING …be treated like something to experiment with at a time that demands certainty?
Leadership, especially in a place like Lagos, is not a playground for theory. It is a LIVING, BREATHING RESPONSIBILITY, and the people must remain THE REASON, not the ambition, not the noise, not the politics...THE PEOPLE.
So as the horizon begins to shift again…as conversations gather behind closed doors and loudly on open streets…one truth sits, calm but unyielding:
PARTNERSHIP is not optional.
LOYALTY is not decorative.
EXPERIENCE is not negotiable.
THEY ARE THE ANCHORS. And without anchors…even the most beautiful ships drift. So I ask, gently, but HONESTLY: Do we truly love development enough? Do we truly love the people enough? Will “politics” stop being the fulcrum…and leadership, in its purest form, finally take its place?

SOMETHING ABOUT LAGOS THIS MORNING FEELS DIFFERENT.
Perhaps it is the quiet expectation in the air.
Perhaps it is the growing realization that the decisions made now will shape the soul, structure, and speed of Lagos for years to come. The primaries of the All Progressives Congress commenced today, and honestly…Lagos knows what to do; the APC certainly must know what to do because this is not merely about politics.
This is about continuity with competence. This is about protecting momentum while preparing Lagos for an even stronger future. Which is why there's a deep resonance with many of us. Not because he is the loudest voice in the room, but because he represents something Lagos desperately needs at this moment: STEADY, INTELLIGENT, MEASURED, EXPERIENCED One who understands governance from the inside. A man who has spent years within the engine room of Lagos, not watching from afar but actively helping to shape its movement, growth, and direction.
One who carries that rare blend of intellect, humility, technical understanding, and people-centered thinking that a complex city like Lagos requires now more than ever. And beyond competence, there is something reassuring about such disposition. Calm, yet decisive, accessible, yet focused, reflective, yet progressive. Lagos can not afford disruption disguised as experimentation... NOT NOW.
This is a strategic moment, a defining moment, and I genuinely believe in a representation of the kind of leadership that can help Lagos rev even stronger while keeping development, structure, and people at the centre of governance.
So yes…I look forward to some good news shortly, because sometimes, a city arrives at a moment when the choice becomes obvious, and perhaps…this is that moment. For WE ARE BECOMING. #GreaterLagosRising ##MayNigeriaSucceed 🇳🇬
THE COST OF LEAVING THE ROOM
There is something painful about watching a country slowly lose the dignity of COMPETENCE. A time when VALUES were mocked as weakness, when INTEGRITY became “old school.” When many of the educated, thoughtful and DECENT people quietly stepped away from GOVERNANCE and public PARTICIPATION…while still hoping for BETTER outcomes. But nations do not magically improve, PEOPLE BUILD THEM...GOOD people, PREPARED people, PRESENT people. Maybe that is the real DIFFERENCE between then and now.
Our parents may not have had everything, but many of them believed public service meant something. They understood DUTY. They respected INSTITUTIONS. They carried themselves with a quiet sense of responsibility. Today, too many INTELLIGENT people discuss politics only in private spaces, WhatsApp groups and living rooms…while others continue to shape the future in the rooms that truly matter.
Perhaps this is the AWAKENING. Not just anger, not just complaints, but PARTICIPATION. Because if people with VALUES continue to stay away, we may continue to hand over tomorrow to PEOPLE WITHOUT any. Something must SHIFT, and maybe…just maybe…that shift begins with US. #MayNigeriaSucceed 🇳🇬
OVER 40 YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP…
At this point, “friend” almost feels inadequate. Brother sits better. So brother it is. And yes…I am now wise enough not to post his picture because after all these years, “Dumbleh” is still not a social media person. (Emphasis on still not.) But behind the quietness…behind the occasional distance that can make you wonder what’s going on in that head of his…is a heart that has shown up for me in ways too deep to explain properly. A solid heart. A dependable heart. A good man’s heart.
He has stood by me BIG time over the years and some kindness cannot be repaid, you simply carry the gratitude with you for life. Today, I pray that God blesses him in ways he himself cannot begin to imagine. May peace find you. May strength remain with you. May joy visit you often, and may life be gentler and kinder to you in this new year.
Here’s to you, "Dumbleh". Many happy returns of the day, my brother. God bless you always.💯🥂
MORE THAN A HOTEL. A LESSON IN TIME.
As I sit here at Eko Hotels & Suites celebrating 50 years of excellence at the Africa Legacy Summit…I find myself having a different kind of moment...a moment about time; because perhaps that is the real legacy of Eko. Not just the walls. Not just the chandeliers. Not just the memories, but consistency over time.
Fifty years of showing up. Fifty years of staying relevant. Fifty years of evolving without losing identity. Fifty years of understanding that greatness is not built in a moment… but through moments, repeated intentionally over time. And honestly, it makes one reflect deeply...on purpose...on growth...on discipline...on BECOMING.
Lagos moves fast. Nigeria can test you. Dreams can delay. Life can distract, but places like Eko Hotels quietly remind you that time rewards vision that refuses to die. That if you keep building…keep refining…keep showing up…one day, people will gather to celebrate what once looked impossible. And somehow, between nostalgia, laughter, hospitality, old stories and warm conversations…you realise:
We are all becoming something.
The real question is: WHAT ARE WE BECOMING WITH TIME? #MayNigeriaSucceed 🇳🇬
WHO TOLD US POLITICS WAS NOT OUR BUSINESS
There was a time in this country when being educated was not strange. When serving in government was a thing of pride. When civil servants carried dignity. When “Super Perm Sec” was not just a title…but a symbol of competence, discipline and nation-building.
Our parents were not perfect, but many of them carried values that built homes, communities and respect for society. Integrity meant something, character mattered. Public office was responsibility before opportunity. Today, many of us sit on the sidelines complaining about leadership, while good people continue to avoid politics because they were told: “Politics is dirty.”; and maybe that is exactly why things became this way.
Because decent people withdrew, because thoughtful people stayed away, because those with values refused to enter the room. Yes, it may feel late, but perhaps this is where “better late than never” truly matters. Maybe it is time for professionals, thinkers, creators, honest citizens and people with conscience to stop watching from afar and start participating: Elective office. Appointments. Policy. Governance. Community leadership.
If good people keep avoiding the process, bad people will keep mastering it. Time don reach to borrow ourselves sense. The question now is simple: Are you game? #MayNigeriaSucceed 🇳🇬
FROM "LIONHEART" TO "WAHALA"...what a statement.
And somewhere at the centre of that evolution stands GENEVIEVE NNAJI, calm, intentional, elegant and powerfully Nigerian. With "Lionheart", we watched a woman carry family, business, culture and dignity on her shoulders in a way only Nigerians truly understand. The pressure...the pride...the determination to hold things together against all odds. It was not just a film; it felt familiar. Homegrown excellence wrapped in heart, language, enterprise and identity.
Now comes "Wahala", the new BBC drama series rooted in the rich complexity of Nigerian and diasporan life. Friendship. Ambition. Identity. Class. Secrets. Tension. And that uniquely Nigerian emotional energy that turns ordinary conversation into layered storytelling; because only Nigerians can turn “wahala” into a full emotional ecosystem, and this is why it matters. Not just because Genevieve is back on screen, but because Nigerian stories continue to rise without apology, without dilution and without losing their soul.
Genevieve has always carried a rare kind of presence. She does not shout for attention. The room simply adjusts when she arrives. For many of us, she represents a defining shift in Nollywood itself: from VHS shelves and living room gatherings to global screens carrying Nigerian accents, fabrics, humour, pain, confidence and sophistication proudly.
While many chased fame, she built LEGACY; quietly...elegantly...consistently. And truly, you cannot speak of the framing and forming of modern Nollywood without acknowledging a woman who helped make Nigerian excellence look refined, global and unforgettable. And somehow, through all the evolution, one thing has remained true: Genevieve did not merely act in Nollywood’s story, she became part of the language that taught the world how Nigerian excellence looks, sounds and feels. #MayNigeriaSucceed 🇳🇬
Good morning, Alibaba.
Just thought to remind you this morning that beyond the applause, the packed halls, the legendary stage presence and the endless laughter you have given this country…there are people whose lives are genuinely better because you showed up for them.
You have worn greatness with grace, influence with humility, and success with warmth. In a world where many protect status, you have continued to protect people. That is rare. That is honourable. That is LEGACY.
As the journey to celebrating 40 years of stage life unfolds, may you never lose the joy, strength, and tenderness that make you not just a great talent… but a truly good man. Thank you for being a brother, friend, encourager, and steady light to many of us.
Have an amazing morning, King @alibabagcfr 👏🏾
SOMETHING ABOUT LAGOS THIS MORNING
There is something deeply beautiful about waking up in this city with HOPE still ALIVE, despite the noise, despite the pressure, despite the endless movement. Every sunrise over Lagos still whispers POSSIBILITY and perhaps that is why conversations around the future of our state have become more intentional recently.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been plagued by calls, messages, side conversations and direct questions about my choice for Governor of Lagos State come 2027. “Can he do it?” “Will he listen?” “Will they let him work?” And honestly, I understand the questions. Lagos is no small assignment. It is one of the most demanding and strategic cities in Africa. A city that cannot afford guesswork, experiments or leadership by noise. But what response can be expected from someone bold enough to openly stick out his neck in support of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat? Simple...I have interacted with him privately, listened to him publicly, sat with him one-on-one, and I still remember the feeling after each engagement: That quiet EXCITEMENT, that REASSURING bounce, that CONFIDENCE that comes from encountering someone who genuinely UNDERSTANDS GOVERNANCE, UNDERSTANDS PEOPLE and deeply UNDERSTANDS LAGOS.
And yes…the elephant in the room always finds its way into the conversation. “Will he truly have a free hand?” Maybe not completely. But honestly, if we already affirm that there remains a strong political hold on Lagos, then surely development, continuity and visible progress must remain the thrust. And if that happens, Lagosians will still be better off.
What excites me is not noise, it is COMPETENCE, STEADINESS, INTELLIGENCE, EXPERIENCE, and the ability to build with a strong and dynamic team. I genuinely believe Lagos will rev even stronger. And as we look ahead, one must also pause to acknowledge and salute Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the work, resilience and visible transformation that continue to shape the Lagos story daily. Perhaps that is why the phrase "Mr Governor: The Humble Banker Who Led Lagos", quietly echoes in my heart each time I look around this evolving city...CONVICTION can be too strong to whisper!!!
THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO EXPERIMENT
Lagos is not just another state, It is a living, breathing ecosystem of DREAMS, PRESSURE, MOVEMENT, INNOVATION, SURVIVAL, and POSSIBILITIES. And at moments like this, leadership matters deeply. So as Dr. Obafemi Hamzat picks his form and steps forward, many of us are not just excited…WE ARE CONFIDENT, confident because we know what stuff he is made of. We have seen the DISCIPLINE, we have witnessed the CONSISTENCY. We understand the COMPETENCE, and perhaps more importantly, we have watched his COMMITMENT to the REAL WORK OF GOVERNANCE over the years.
This is not about noise, this is not about performance politics. This is about CAPACITY. This is about UNDERSTANDING LAGOS beyond the cameras and the campaigns. LAGOS DESERVES THE BEST, and truthfully, this is a strategic season, not one for trial and error.
The next phase of Lagos requires EXPERIENCE, STEADINESS, INTELLECT, EMOTIONAL BALANCE, and a GENUINE UNDERSTANDING of development and people. Dr. Hamzat represents that conversation strongly: A thinker...A builder...a man deeply connected to the mechanics of governance and the future of Lagos.
And so, as the journey unfolds, many of us look ahead with BELIEF, EXPECTATION, and HOPE for something even GREATER, because when preparation meets opportunity, history often pays attention. Let’s do this!!!
