Portraits of my 11 year old brother Amarion, my hero.
Amarion crafted this hat out of a cardboard box and tape in about 40 minutes that stemmed from his love for Beyoncé. Eager to show me, he beamed with excitement and joy in showcasing something he was so proud of. I grabbed my camera and we went to an open field near my grandmothers home in the warm country of Arkansas. My pants falling off his small frame, he stands in front of me as I gaze through the view finder to compose my first shot. Raising the camera, my eyes rushed with tears, as I realize in some form— I was photographing my younger self’s hero. Everything I have ever dreamed of being, your wings I will forever nurture. May you fly knowing you are grounded in love. Soft to your core, endless in your being. May you know you are beautiful, may you know you are special, you are a walking and breathing dream. To have captured one of the purest and rawest forms of beauty that I’ve ever seen in this moment, I pray this affirmed you as much as it did me.
To be seen.
I love you.
To your journey of growth, to a season of healing that at times feels messy and unpolished. I’m here to say see you and I’m proud of you. Not all healing is refined, rational, and socially “presentable” — that doesn’t deem it unworthy of being held, understood, and truthfully experienced. May you shed as you rest your armor.
Direction and written work for MAC, a dream.
I was approached by @maccosmeticsusa to tell a story surrounding radiance. Through my eyes, Black joy is the sheer reflection of radiance. It is found in the core feeling of childhood, a place in life where we dreamed undeniably, where we learned to love, where we first learned to simply exist. May you feel your radiance in each breath, may you captive moments as they capture you.

Had the pleasure of staging & designing a project for a residential listing here in Brooklyn. An exploration of warmth and intention, alongside @tagegallery ’s heritage and lens. Much love to @zunicastillo for the trust and dedication to bringing such a fresh perspective to the experience that is, “welcome home”.

There’s a fury that rests in the palms of the helpless, and greed that lines the smiles of the wicked.
