May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we encourage visitors to prioritize their mental well-being. A recent study from Art Fund’s National Art Pass found that spending time with art can reduce cortisol levels and ease stress. As researcher Dr. Tony Woods of King’s College London explains, “In short, our unique and original study provides compelling evidence that viewing art in a gallery is ‘good for you’ and helps to further our understanding of its fundamental benefits. In essence, Art doesn’t just move us emotionally – it calms the body too.” Decompress with a quiet stroll through our galleries and visit the quiet room in our Family Space. Learn more about how to tailor your museum experience at okcmoa.com/accessibility.
