We are an all-hazards response agency, responding to a wide variety of emergency calls across the OKC Metro including stalled elevators. Recently, firefighters responded to a downtown OKC building after an elevator suddenly stopped between floors with one person trapped inside. Although an elevator technician was already on scene, they were unable to get the elevator moving. Firefighters from Fire Station 6 secured the elevator and safely rescued the individual through the top hatch. OKCFD Medic 6 evaluated the patient on scene for minor injuries, but they were not transported. Great teamwork and another successful rescue by OKCFD crews. #elevator #rescue #HereIfYouNeedUs

Some bonds last far beyond the emergency scene. Firefighters often form lifelong connections with the people they rescue, and that was certainly the case for Major Wiggins and Lieutenant Elliot. After rescuing two young girls from a serious vehicle accident in 2025, they recently had the honor of attending the girls’ high school graduation ceremony. Moments like these remind us that the impact of the fire service extends far beyond the call itself. ❤️#hereifyouneedus

Today’s emergency response was a special one for the Bowerman family. Two brothers, serving at different Oklahoma City fire stations, responded to the very same emergency call, working side by side in service to the OKC community. The Bowerman brothers are proud 2nd generation firefighters, continuing a family legacy started by their father Carl, who faithfully served the Oklahoma City Fire Department from 1991 to 2014. From one generation to the next, dedication to protecting others runs deep in this family. Thank you to the Bowerman brothers for your commitment, hard work, and service to our community. 🚒 #brothers #family #firefighter #proudtoserve

As the school year comes to an end and summer approaches, swimming pools across Oklahoma City will soon be opening for the season. We want everyone to enjoy a safe and fun summer around the water, but it’s important to remember that drownings happen every year. Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of death for children ages 5-14. A few simple safety steps can help save lives: 💧 Always actively supervise children while they are swimming. 💧 Consider swim lessons for children at an early age. 💧 Young children and inexperienced swimmers should wear a U.S. Coast Guard certified life jacket around water. 💧 Backyard pools should have fencing on all sides that is at least four feet high with self closing and self latching gates. 💧 Learn CPR. Immediate action can make a difference in an emergency. Let’s work together to keep this summer safe for everyone. #OKCFD #WaterSafety #SafeSummer #DrowningPrevention #CommunityFirst

Over the weekend, OKTF-1 Urban Search and Rescue personnel conducted boat operations training at Lake Hefner to strengthen water rescue and flood response capabilities. Training included boat launching and recovery, vessel maneuvering, water search techniques, victim recovery procedures, communications coordination, and crew safety practices. Exercises like these help ensure our personnel remain prepared to respond safely and effectively in dynamic water rescue environments. #OKCFD #HereIfYouNeedUs #WaterRescue #Training #MeetTheNeed
