NEVER IMAGINE GOD’S GIFTS ALONE
A group exhibition curated by Oji Haynes featuring Frank Dorrey, Karryl Eugene, and Lloyd Foster.

This exhibition is centered around proximity. Proximity to images, experimentation, humor, and how images circulate through our lives in a way that is not strictly photography centered.
The show gathers three artists who explore photography without ever stopping at the image itself. It’s pushed to be distorted, covered, or warped in ways where it shifts toward abstraction, moving away from the contents within the image.
Each artist engages Black subject matter in ways that extend beyond simple understanding or reading. It becomes an archive of relationships that blends with our immediate sense of comfort, familiarity, and misrecognition.
Opening Friday, May 8, 6–8 PM
On view May 8 – June 3, 2026

I made these images of Emily on the first day I met her, two years ago, in July 2022. She had DMd me and asked if I wanted to photograph her in her space. I said yes, of course. She was so shy & sweet, yet she was glowing and so beautiful. She smelled so good I still remember the scent lol. I was nervous but also comfortable because her presence felt easy & safe. I could tell she was a bit more nervous than I was, so my focus was on trying to make her feel comfortable. I’m like, how can you be beautiful and nervous? Those two don’t even go together, lol. I told her that I had zero ideas for this shoot and that since she was also an artist, I was hoping we could work together to make a few compositions. I don’t think we made a single bad image that day. But two years later, I’m blessed to have these photographs in our beautiful home together.
I love you, always.
Happy 25th anniversary , my love (Manifesting) To 25 more
