The Great Gate of Kiev
A shared hymn, carried forward.
Hartmann imagined a gate. Mussorgsky turned it into procession. I painted it as a glowing galaxy where memory intertwines with the subconscious, cosmic and human at once.
On April 12, the Hannaford Street Silver Band brings the Great Gate to full radiance live at @danielsspectrum , surrounded by all 15 paintings, the whole cycle gathering into a single, luminous arrival.

Baba Yaga
The shiver before defiance.
Hartmann’s folklore becomes Mussorgsky’s ferocious drive. I painted the breath before we hold firm or run, terror and courage converging.
On April 12, the Hannaford Street Silver Band unleashes Baba Yaga live at @danielsspectrum , surrounded by the full 15-painting cycle. This one is a storm of colour, gesture, and sharp-edged shadow.

The Catacombs
Silence after devastation.
Hartmann takes us underground, lantern light among skulls. Mussorgsky turns it into an inward Andante, the air holding its breath. I painted it as a place where darkness presses close, and a thin light refuses to go out.

The way a crowd ripples when you stand still and watch.
Hartmann’s drawing is lost, but Mussorgsky preserved the marketplace in sound. I painted the bustle as chorus, voices overlapping, everyone speaking at once, yet connected. This one is pure city energy. Come hear it #Toronto style performed by the Hannaford Street Silver Band

Promenade V
Not transition, conversion.
Mussorgsky’s walking theme returns, but altered. The sphere fractures into facets of light. The promenade stops guiding from scene to scene and becomes threshold, where solitude begins to turn outward.
