3 years ago, I read Crossed Off the Map: Travels in Bolivia by
@shafikmeghji , a sweeping portrait of Boliviaโs history, geography, and culture that left me completely captivated. Bolivia has always fascinated me, esp cuz itโs rarely at the top of anyoneโs travel list. So for my 39th birthday, I decided to just go.
And what better way to celebrate than at the Uyuni Salt Flats in February, when the rains create the most magical mirror effect in the world. Witnessing it in person was honestly breathtaking (also from lack of oxygen ๐) and completely out of this world.
And of course, I needed people who would say โsay lessโ when I said โwanna come to Bolivia for 9 days?โ because the fine print included 5am wake up calls, hours on the road, the highest capital city in the world, the largest salt flats, the largest navigable lake, temperatures that can swing from 20-70 degrees in the same day ๐ฅถ๐ฅต, and the very real possibility of altitude sickness. ๐
[insert Lady Gaga โno sleep, bus, club, another club, plane, next place meme] ๐
Thank you
@visitsouthamerica.co for helping me put together an unforgettable, once in a lifetime trip! Bolivia was truly a dream โจ
