My Hometown’s Bleeding was a long time coming — a heavy feeling I had been carrying for years. I finally wrote it during the 2025 Iran–Israel war, after hearing on the news that the area where one of my close friends was serving his forced military duty was being bombed. With the internet cut off in Iran, I was left in the dark, unable to know if he had survived. It felt like shouting into a black hole — a never-ending nightmare where your home, your loved ones, and all your childhood memories are swallowed by a violent hurricane while I watch it from far far away from an asylum seekers center.
The song's message feels more urgent today with the ongoing war in Iran. It is for the constant ache of watching your motherland — and its people — bleed under the weight of a brutal regime, and wars waged by those in power, and the suffering imposed on ordinary lives.
And still, it is for hope. For resilience. For keeping the fire alive.

Singing "My Hometown's Bleeding" live is quite emotional. I wrote this for my friends, and I know that they did not get to hear it yet because of the war. It was very heartwarming to the sing for the lovely crowd at @baroegrotterdam yesterday. Thanks for the kind words and stabding by me. It helps me carry the pain.

“My Hometown’s Bleeding” releasing on 3rd April, is the story I have been carrying with me for a long time. I have left a sinking ship, watching the pain of friends in Iran who saved me and helped me escape to the Netherlands. But I also don’t feel lonely here because of all the love and support I receive from the beautiful people I meet.
I am truly grateful to @alainclark for feeling the song, believing in me, and being generous with his time and producing this track. The entire project feels like a dream come true: recording a song together with @tinusbossie , @clemensblacquiere , and Michel Van Schie in such an amazing studio, with Joeri Saal recording and mixing the track, and @zlaya.loud mastering.
I am grateful to @shesnowapple for bringing this collaboration all together and for supporting me on my journey, and to @parviz_azartash for all the inspiration and for the cover art.

It is extremely painful what is happening to my people in my home country. You hear the news about thousands of lives lost and an ongoing fight to get rid of this monstrous regime.
What helps me in times of utmost uncertainty is to believe in something as small as the fire from a match. To try to keep it burning and feel my heart, feel the pain, and hold on to some hope when everything hurts, and life is super complicated and heavy.
