A little while back I designed a logo and a couple patterns for The Mendoza Line, “A baseball bar in a garage.” The bar’s aesthetic is 90’s baseball cards, in particular the Rated Rookie brand. I did a lot of research on these cards, the logo (@aigaeyeondesign has a great article on the RR logo, a suggested read for sure), and 90’s patterns and here is the result. We really leaned into the Rated Rookie logo for inspiration for the logo—in particular the extended stroke on the M and the outline—but updated the typography and colors. For the patterns I stuck with three colors and created a halftone in blue and red, and bars with gradients in blue and white. These were handed off to the client who created these coasters and matchbooks, and I just love the results! You can see more of my work at (link in bio)
