There’s something called the rule of thirds.
Most people hear that and think it’s some technical camera thing.
It’s not. It’s actually just… seasoning.
You know how when you’re making soup, you don’t dump all the salt in one corner of the pot? You distribute it — because that’s what makes the whole thing taste right.
Same logic in cinematography.
Your frame is the pot.
Your subject is the ingredient that matters most and when you center everything, the dish feels… off. Not wrong, just not interesting
But when you place your subject along one of those imaginary grid lines — or right where two of them cross — suddenly the frame breathes. It has weight in the right places.
That’s the grid. 3 lines across, 3 lines down. 9 sections. 4 intersections.
Put your subject there.
Let the rest of the frame do its job.
Simple concept.
Most people just never think about it this way.
