Did it once and I can do it again.
Sometimes I can’t believe I did it. It took a lot of discipline in a time I was only just realizing I didn’t have much. I worked full time while taking classes full time. I studied and saw my friends afterwards. I was basically living a quarter of the time in a different city while pursuing this degree. The time was going to pass anyways so I did it.
Recently I’ve been grappling with my sense of self. The motivation behind my actions. Behind who I am today. The simple answer I’ve come to believe is that love is a vehicle. I have been many things and many people at the service of others through the vehicle of love. Love got me this far. Filial, familial, romantic and platonic. It has never steered me wrong. I am so grateful for everyone who saw me through this journey. I wouldn’t feel this fulfillment without you filling my life with all that you did. Thank you
My next steps are to put myself in the drivers seat. To guide my own love into steering me into the future I imagine. I have so many ways I cannot wait to be.
And I’ll do it again if I have to 🤍
A short poem series Harmony Of A Love performed at @sometimesithinktoomuch_
Very grateful to everyone that came out and was present to hear and be with some amazing artists.
Filmmakers, florists and poets.
Very recently I feel like I’m in the drivers seat of how I want to be and who that is.
Experiences like these only solidify my commitment towards living a real life.
Thank you to @bunsized a superstar and a blessing,
Fellow artists and poets,
@n.sd for the amazing poster
My people for loving me and showing up,
And to you all reading 🤍🤍
My first poetry chapbook seeds of destiny is now live at seedsofdestiny.store as an e-book!
The full book which inspires the latest exhibition I’ve posted about uses poetry and collage to explore themes of love, passion, faith and ambition.
link in bio 🖤
Prints and eventually a printed physical copy also available soon 🤍
Back one month ago to You As Framing device. The first public exhibition of my work as an artist. Words cannot describe how meaningful it was to me for this exhibition to happen. The process of putting this together and experiencing it reconstituted a feeling that for many years I convinced myself I didn’t desire. Many lessons learned and a continued reinvigorating joy, I’m immensely grateful that I got to do this.
Thankful for Dom for curating this, for the brilliant artists I co-exhibited with and my wonderful support system that poured into me and this project from inception until finish. I love you all and my reaffirmed belief that art is created to be reckoned with 🖤🫶🏿
Excited to announce that I’ll be exhibiting some new work from my poetry book Seeds of Destiny alongside some brilliant artists this Wednesday, 21st of August.
The work on show will be collage + poetry centered around themes of love, community and the introspection of placing myself against the faith I carry in these things.
Inspired by a daily prayer program my mom would send me, poems of hope, poems of love and collage expressing abundance and passion, reimagine those prayers as I saw them: a manifestation of a personal journey for my fate.
So many thanks to @bunsized for curating this and allowing me to be a part of what I know to be a beautiful night with everyone showing.
Thank you to @n.sd for the gorgeous flyer
