just realized it’s been 9ish years since I was the creative technologist in residence at pioneer works. The pieces I made when I was there were a study on socialist feminism via the way that (mostly men) in tech had co-opted biohacking and transhumanism by longevity and performance. I read the cyborg manifesto, I read the cyborg handbook, I looked at subverting technology by altering appearances in a surveillance state, I wanted to be explicitly clear that the people who are fighting back against whatever authority that is oppressing them have been biohacking forever. Trans women buying HRT from weebs on the dark web. Grinders implanting electronics in their bodies (myself included). Plastic surgery. Basic body modification. Etc etc. Ultimately I landed on creating pieces about “what augmentations could we create with the hardware available today” and made this face around digitalized makeup with my friend Leo. The hand was a commentary on embedded devices keeping us plugged into social media at all moments & it lit up every time someone would use a specific hashtag in a tweet while posting about the works.
I gave a talk about it at Strange Loop 2017 called “the future is now” (watch it if I haven’t forced you to watch it already).
It wasn’t supposed to be a one and done project, I wanted to continue working on it. But life got in the way and multiple bad experiences in tech, a global pandemic, abusive relationships, and ultimately losing my sense of self made it impossible.
But I’ve healed a ton in the past year and I’m ready to continue the work I’ve started, and finally ready to make things in general again.

My capabilities for making involve: sculpting, mold making, hardware, software, analog and digital visuals, projection mapping, 3d printing, leds, miniatures, graphic and video design, coding, basic sewing, painting in general (especially prop and set weathering, making things look like materials they’re not), and probably a ton of other things I’m forgetting. I just want to restart this & collab with other people who are passionate about the topic
my adhd ass brain constantly asks stripes or solids so last week after league I tried to see if there was any product that would help me remember and I found @sos.bracelet who is also based in nyc!!!!!! helped a ton for tonight’s games :)
