Her debut gives her not the glamorous commercial film she dreamed of but a simple girl in a dark indie that asks her to be completely, uncomplicatedly true - and she is, so devastatingly so, that you forget you're watching anything at all. That's what Shivani does. She follows the true thing, even when it's inconvenient, even when it wasn't the plan, she turned out to be one of the most seriously gifted actors of her generation.
Off screen she is exactly that person - a proper Delhi girl, honest to the bone, funnier than you were prepared for, the kind of person who will sit with you for hours over coffee and say something so precise, so warm and so completely without warning that you feel somehow a little more known.
