cheeky trip to @damnationfestival doing some crewing
met loads of great lads, saw so many sick bands and I hope to work with them all again soon
9 pot noodles eaten, one drum head changed, countless times kits were built, many humbugs eaten
little double duty tonight on the big boy toys.
mixing @thefaithestateofficial supporting @theactivators at The Drill, and then doing lights for the headliner.
love having the opportunity to use lovely nice gear in a great venue.
not normally a very big fan of delay on vocals, I like things very dry, however this band lent itself to riding the fader throughout the whole set and really drowning it.
Had loads of fun mixing at Croft Fest. Loads of really cool bands, and a really fun vibe.
Lots of clicky drum sounds, very loud, and some crazy cabling.
The nature of an all day festival creates so many challenges for FOH and monitoring/patch side. 5 of the 8 bands I mixed had in-ear splits that we had to repatch every time.
That being said, we ran perfectly to time all day.

Had a lot of fun the other week mixing some of the bands at Badlands at The Drill
Lot of friends in the bands I mixed and it felt really really nice
Had a lot of issues with loud wedges (deaf punk vocalists and a massive empty room don't tend to mix well acoustically) but I lived with it and got a sound I was almost happy with
got to have some fun with the Moz boys the other day at their gig at @_callofthewildfestival_ and I got to live out some fantasies of being a hardcore vocalist
sometimes it's not always about work, you need some time to play and have fun on and off stage with your mates
cheers to stevey and xander for the sick pictures
as we're at the end of the year, I thought I'd do a little soppy post thanking some people.
I've worked with so many amazing people this year, all of which I get to call my friends, and I've had a great time every time. it never feels like work when you're working with or for people that are genuinely nice to be around.
cheers to everyone for having me, hopefully you have me back.
I'm now looking at more stuff to do in 2024, so shoot me a DM and we can hopefully work together.
Every now and then two bands you work with decide to play a gig together.
It's not often a double duty night happens, but it's always fun when it does, especially when it runs as smoothly as this night did.
Cheers for having me, lads
Sometimes it's time for a whole fresh line up!
Had a great night working with Moskito at their EP release show at Here We Aren't in Peterborough.
Started the night by doing a basic restring on two of their guitars, as requested. I recommend to Sam after the restring that we raise the action on the lower strings, as the guitar was tuned to drop C and the lower strings were starting to choke out and be muted. Sam agreed with me and said it was more comfortable to play.
I then needed to tune two guitars and a bass to drop C for a song off of their new EP. This presented the challenge of carrying three guitars at the same time, ready for the change over. I figured it out pretty fast and took their guitars back the same way I took them the new guitars.
They only used those guitars for one song, so in that time I tuned and cleaned their main guitars ready for the rest of the set.
Been a fun week doing a 6 date run with Vigilantes - running double duty on Saturday with Moskito.
Started the week off giving Alex's bass a little set up; starting with polishing the frets, oiling the fretboard and changing the strings. I also checked the intonation, action and neck relief with Alex to see what he found most comfortable to play.
The rest of the week with Vigilantes was pretty straightforward as I just maintained their equipment and helped set up and pack down every night, as well as being at the side of the stage ready to help should anything have gone wrong.
On Saturday I worked with both Moskito and Vigilantes, in Luton and Nottingham respectively.
The first show of the day was all hands on deck, as it seemed that everything that could go wrong did go wrong. However, we all remained calm and sorted it all out, and it ended up being a very fun and good show.
The second show was with Vigilantes at Rough Trade in Nottingham. This show went very smoothly and we all had a good gig.
