OTL’s got big news!!! We’re so honored to announce that we’ve received a grant from @nyculture ‘s FY2026 Cultural Development Fund (CDF)!! Art and culture are the heart and soul of New York, and we’re proud to be among the nearly 1,200 groups receiving city support this year thanks to the partnership between the NYC Mayor’s Office and the City Council. This investment in our work will help us continue to bring accessible, affordable arts programs to our community. Our CDF grant will support paying our OTL artists and offering free programming & events in our BOOST, Mentorship, ColLab and Community Event programs! #NYCulture

Off The Lane’s next ColLab production is “Mauzy” by Derek Davidson: a haunting Appalachian musical folk tale inspired by the Noh drama “Matsukaze”. Set in the misty mountains of 1929, the play follows a traveling preacher who seeks shelter in a remote cabin inhabited by two enigmatic sisters. As stories are shared and the night unfolds, reality begins to blur with memory, myth, and ghostly longing. Blending bluegrass music, storytelling, and the supernatural world, “Mauzy” explores grief, desire, faith, and the stories we tell to survive. The production is being directed by Rachel Sabo-Hedges, associate directed by Anna Zheng, and features a stunning cast including Anna Grace Crawford, Tara Halpern, Miciah Wallace, Michael Kaczkowski, Jasmine Renee Pierce, Sarah Elizabeth Mesibov, and Jason Curtis Rivera. “Mauzy” will run for 3 performances on May 14th-16th, 2026! Tickets can be found at the link in our bio 🎶🎻⛰️ If you are in financial need, please email [email protected] for more information about obtaining a discounted ticket.

We asked our MP15 mentees: “What kind of art makes you feel the most inspired?” & their responses remind us how overjoyed we are to be in the arts & and how *hopeful* we feel about the future when we’ve got creatives like our OTL mentees leading the way. 🩵

Happy 6 months to our relaunched School Partnerships program!!! The need for arts education is more urgent than ever. We deeply value theatre educators and the care they bring to their students every day. Our goal is to support that work by creating spaces where students are on their feet, collaborating, exploring, and taking risks. In our workshops, observation takes a backseat. Action is the focus. What do you think your friends think you think of them? ColLab’s Staged Reading Series is so back at Off The Lane for 2026 with “Stupid Boring Straight People” by Seth Barnes! Join us as four couples in varying degrees of love and anguish navigate one disastrous Halloween party. The ColLab staged reading series reimagines what a “reading” can be. Instead of a static presentation, we transform the room into an immersive environment that surrounds audiences with the world of the piece while honoring the development of a new script (audience members won’t be required to participate unless they want to.) The result? Developmental presentations that feel alive, communal, and exciting, because we believe interactive storytelling is the next generation of creative connection. Our crazy talented cast of couples includes Jared Palmer Kirsch, Bryanna Marie Felipe, Caleb Schantz, Elena Cramer, Alec Ludacka, D.B. Milliken, and Malia Munley. Directed by Rachel Sabo-Hedges (Note: Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic Beverages will be available to purchase – all proceeds will go to future OTL artists and projects) RSVP link in our bio 💌
