Some people grow up around sports and competition. AllyOop grew up around that energy and brought it straight to the dancefloor.
Ally Hickman has always been the hype person. The loud one on the bench. The teammate keeping energy high when everyone else was running on fumes. So when she found dance music, it clicked almost immediately. Same adrenaline. Same connection. Just louder.
Her sound jumps between house and dubstep, pulling influence for this set from artists like Cloonee, AYYBO, Peggy Gou, Tiga, Beltran, plus labels like Solid Grooves, CircoLoco, and Maccabi House. There’s bounce to it. Personality too. She’s not afraid to switch gears if the room calls for it.
EDM first entered her world through her older sister driving her around in high school. Little by little, she started digging deeper on her own. Different genres. Raves. New artists. Then the community side of it pulled her all the way in. The kind of environment where strangers instantly feel like friends. That stuck with her.
DJing started pretty organically after a friend bought her a starter deck in college. YouTube tutorials, trial and error, late nights practicing transitions instead of sleeping. She was already the aux person at parties anyway, so learning to mix just felt like the next evolution.
Things really started taking shape after moving to Baltimore post-grad. Through local gigs, open decks, and the people around her, she found her footing in the scene. Shoutout @ricderrr@open.house.events and the Candies crew for helping shape that early chapter. Pregames turned into afters. Afters turned into opportunities. People kept showing up. So she kept going.
Outside of music, Ally still carries that competitive edge. She played Division I softball in college and still competes today. On top of that, she now runs her own coaching and consulting business, working with youth softball players across Maryland through private lessons, clinics, and camps.

From the moment the gates opened, the energy was unreal. Smiles everywhere, people dancing, flower crowns floating through the crowd, and HoneyLuv absolutely tearing the Groove Garden apart from the moment she came on. One of those days that reminds us exactly why we do this.
Baltimore showed out in a massive way. Thank you to every single person who came early, stayed late, supported local vendors, danced with strangers, and helped turn a parking lot in Fells into something special for a few hours.
