It's here! 🔎🐛🐜🐞🦗🦋🐝🌻
We are so excited to spread the word that the Somerville Pollinator Action Plan has launched!
Thank you to Mayor Ballantyne's Division of Public Space and Urban Forestry for the past two years of collaboration as well as our committee members and volunteers who have already started to implement Pollinator-Positive actions in our communities (like the new pollinator garden at Somerville City Hall). This plan gives an insightful look into the ecology of Somerville and provides tips and ideas for how we can all protect the pollinators.
Take a look! You can also find the link in our bio!

A Year in the Life! 🌷
In celebration of the last year, watch the seasons change through the Hood Bike Park Meadow!
Throughout 2022, the beautiful meadow began to grow and bloom in late May, transitioned into a developed mix of perennials and annuals in August, and moved into dormancy in December. Arranged through a matrix layout, this meadow community features native plants that attract pollinators. This layout gives the plants the freedom to move around, lowering the amount of maintenance. The Hood Bike Park Meadow reminds us about the life cycle of plants and the changes that can happen throughout the year!

Autumn color brings this Wellesley home to life. Layered planting and vibrant late-season blooms wrap the entryway and terrace, grounding the architecture in a warm palette.

Thank you ASLA for the opportunity to share our work on urban pollinator conservation- here’s to supporting insects near and far - and thank you to Dr. Nick Dorian (ecologist) and Luisa and Alison from the City of Somerville for an incredible collaboration!
As the air turns crisp, we can feel the shift of the seasons. Cooler days invite us to embrace autumn traditions - like apple picking!
Wandering through the orchard, we’re surrounded by apples, peaches, plums, cherries and pears.
