Throughout this process, which started in the summer of 2025, I’ve spent many nights thinking about how Dr.King was really feeling in the days leading to his assassination. Thinking about how vulnerable he must have felt both emotionally and physically. The weight of himself and the world must have been immeasurable. Only a feeling that he could understand.
The task of bringing his reality to the world of fictional circumstances has been the heaviest lift of my career. This role pulls on me daily and makes me reassess where I am in my own life. I’m so grateful to get this opportunity to let King’s spirit pour into me every chance I get to do this work.
I want you to come to see “The Mountaintop” at Detroit Public Theatre before it ends on March 8th. This play is phenomenal and the actors are pretty good too…so I hear 😏 #detroitpublictheatre #actorslife #theatre #themountaintop
