Dodgems, Brighton, 1995 One of my personal favourites from my exhibition 'Home & Away' currently showing at The Stables Gallery in Leominster Information Centre. Until I started looking through my negatives from that period I had forgotten that I had visited Brighton in 1995, let along photographed the fair one evening. We stayed in a little black and white cottage on the A274 London to Brighton road not far from the Jack and Jill windmills at Clayton. After an evening in Lewes watching the bonfire celebrations the night before we found that the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run came past the door. So we followed them into Brighton and explored the town. This photo is the best of the set that I took at the fair, keeping in mind that I didn't make many exposures as film seemed to be expensive! I've paired this photo with one that I took locally at Leominster May Fair in 1985 of what we call 'Bumper Cars'. 'Home & Away' is about pairings of photos, one from my local area and the other from somewhere else. 'Home & Away' continues for the rest of May 2026, see previous posts and my website for opening times and location. It doesn't open on Sundays or Bank Holidays. I have a limited number of 6x4 prints on card for sale and order forms for larger prints. I'm pleased that my Dodgems image is getting a lot of attention. #dodgems #exhibition #brighton

300 black and white films from the 1980s and 1990s = about 10,000 frames. I've studied them all and selected 40 photographs for 'Home & Away' that opens tomorrow at The Old Stable Gallery in Leominster Information Centre. I spent yesterday checking the dates and locations that will be in the exhibition guide. There is so much that I've had to leave out. Some of the extra will firm a slideshow that will be shown on a monitor in the gallery. Join me on the 2nd or 9th of May or just pop in during the week. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday 9.30am to 4pm, Wednesday 1.30pm – 4pm Thursday 9.30am -11.30pm and 2.30pm-4pm.
