Who inspires our CAPAC members this AANHPI Heritage Month?
From trailblazers to loved ones, our members are thinking of those who made sacrifices and helped pave the way for greater opportunity, representation, and success for AANHPI communities across our nation.
Masked ICE agents have been going door to door in Minnesota targeting Asian families. Many are living in fear, wondering if they’re next.
CAPAC and Minnesota leaders are sounding the alarm and fighting back to protect our communities from Trump’s cruel immigration policies. WATCH:
Thank you to Democratic Leader @repjeffries , Whip @repkclark , Chair @rep.peteaguilar and Vice Chair @reptedlieu for meeting with AANHPI leaders this morning to discuss the issues that matter most to our communities.
Together, we are working to build a better future for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders across the country.
Today on the House floor, I honored the life and legacy of Mary Kageyama Nomura, the beloved “Songbird of Manzanar.”
At just 15 years old, Mary was incarcerated at Manzanar during World War II, where her voice became a source of hope and comfort for fellow Japanese Americans enduring incarceration.
May we honor her memory by preserving the stories of those who endured injustice and by ensuring their voices are never forgotten.
Happy AANHPI Heritage Month!
As we celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander heritage — and our country's 250th anniversary — it is more important than ever that we uplift the untold stories of our communities.
Did you know that Filipinos first arrived in the United States over 400 years ago, long before our country's founding? Or that over 120,000 Filipinos migrated to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations in the early 1900's?

Stop by the Russell Rotunda on Capitol Hill from May 11 to May 22 to check out “Stories from the Field: Filipino Migrant Workers in Hawaii," an exhibit I'm proud to present alongside @smithsonianapa to celebrate the rich history and culture of AANHPI communities!
I led the House in a moment of silence honoring the life and service of Colleen Hanabusa, a proud daughter of Waiʻanae, a tita at heart, and a former member of this House.
Colleen made history as the first AANHPI woman in the nation to lead a legislative body, but she knew being “the first” meant holding the door open so you are not the last. Her legacy lives on in the leaders she mentored, the people she believed in, and the confidence she gave so many of us before we saw it in ourselves.
They broke the mold when they made her. Mahalo, Colleen.
8 in 10 AANHPI adults say the rising cost of groceries, healthcare, and housing is causing stress, which may worsen mental health challenges.
On National AANHPI Mental Health Day, we commit to fighting for access to quality + affordable mental healthcare in America.
I was so proud to host my 6th Annual AANHPI Empowerment Summit! At a time when diversity, immigration, and economic opportunity are under attack, it is more important–and gratifying–than ever that we celebrate the accomplishments of our Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community. It was an incredible honor to be able to recognize these leaders
