These women…this story…this incredible company….where do I begin?!… When @isittdebbie asked me to be part of a workshop for a brand new British musical 18 months ago, I asked myself, can I really do this at 5 months pregnant?! Not only did I do it…Debs was generous enough to write my pregnancy into the storyline so that this incredibly special time of my life would be documented, forever! And then the call came round that the show was actually happening, 10 months into my new role as Mummy. Again I asked myself, can I really do this?! This time, from a logistical and mental point of view - but I decided to take the leap and I couldn’t be more grateful that I did. This show has been the perfect step back into performing for me. I knew I’d be in a safe space with Debbie, @georgedyermd & @thelouis at the helm but I couldn’t have anticipated the love and support I’ve had from this incredible cast. It was made all the more special by us all celebrating my little boy’s 1st Birthday, together. A real full circle moment. Some old friends and some new, it’s been utterly joyous to explore this story with them and together we created one of the most moving, funny, joyful, emotional pieces of theater I’ve ever been part of. Thank you all! I’m missing the daily laughter and tears already! To everyone @yorktheatreroyal , thank you for making us feel so welcome and to the @militarywiveschoirs - thank you for your support and warm reception of our telling of your stories. They deserve to be seen and it’s been an absolute honour sharing them with our audiences each night. But none of this would’ve been possible for me without the help and continued support of my wonderful family. To my husband, @markmcgeephotos and mum @avril.gray & dad…thank you, from the bottom of my heart for stepping up, literally moving across the country and enabling me to take this job. Phoenix and I are now Two Weeks into our #8000StepsADay in March challenge, for @tommys I wanted to take on this challenge to help support the brilliant charity that supported me, on my journey to becoming a mum. Tommys doesn’t get the airtime it deserves, considering 1 in 2 adults in the UK say they, or someone they know, have experienced pregnancy or baby loss. And so I’m walking to raise not only money but also, awareness. You never know you need a supportive network like Tommys until, sadly, you do…and the work they’re doing to try and reduce the heartache of baby loss is invaluable. We’ve already surpassed the original target of £248, hitting over double that. It’s amazing! I cannot thank you enough for all the donations, so far. One whole month of you! 9th September 2024, the day our little family grew and our lives changed forever. What a journey it’s been - but @markmcgeephotos and I are slowly settling into our new roles (far more challenging than any we’ve played before) and feeling so incredibly grateful. In this short time, our beautiful boy has already brought us so much joy and our hearts are bursting with love, adoration and amazement each and every day. It’s not lost on us that our celebration of this past month falls on a day which, for so many, is so difficult. #BabyLossAwarenessWeek was something we were blissfully ignorant about before we started down this road to parenthood. Sadly, like too many, we were not spared the harsh education and heartache, more times than we thought we could cope with. But together, with strength, courage and hope, we carried on and here we are now, one month into our new life with our little miracle #RainbowBaby. We send that strength, courage and hope now to those affected and will light our own candles with you all, in remembrance, this Sunday. May you all find your rainbow at the end of the storm 🌈 We wanted to give a shout out to the brilliant team @royal_surrey_maternity_unit , who made this exciting yet daunting time so much easier. In particular, our midwife Aisling, who was amazing on the day and Natalie & Caroline from the #BirthAndBeyond Team who have been and continue to be, just brilliant! And to everyone else who got us here…you know who you are! We couldn’t have done it without your love and support. So Thank You, from all three of us! PJ. You are loved beyond words. We can’t wait to watch you grow and see how this little personality of yours develops. Thank you for choosing us to be your mummy & daddy. Let the adventures begin…🩵
