The films are deeply connected to Jeff and the Montana skate community, and feature those who’ve helped shape it over the years. MONTANA GRIND, directed by @danreis , captures a decade of skate culture across the state, focusing on a group of young Blackfeet skaters into adulthood; and PAVING THE WAY, directed by @keelantw , spotlights Indigenous youth on the Flathead Indian Reservation through the story of skater and artist Alishon Kelly. @pavingthewaymovie premieres February 15 at 5:30pm at The Wilma (Missoula, MT) @montanagrind screens February 18 at noon at the Roxy Theater (Missoula, MT) Tickets available via @bigskydocfest . The curse is lifted! I always tell my friends in SF, LA, Boston, NY, even Chicago…who have great riches in terms of titles and banners: a win like this is so huge for the “loser” psyche we have in Seattle…this is only our third championship EVER! (big four, I love the Storm:)…and, they fucking stole our NBA team. We needed this one, especially after giving that one away in 2015. Two films near and dear to my heart are premiering at the @bigskydocfest in February. @danreis made the beautiful @montanagrind film over the last 10 years AND @keelantw created the inspirational short @pavingthewaymovie A bunch of my friends and peers are all over these films and I couldn’t be more proud of the skateboard community in our state.
