Concert: ORA ET LABORA @oraetlabroa Thu 22.05. / 19:00 ORA ET LABORA is the alias of a Vienna-based artist who creates and performs her own music, blending melancholic and sometimes dark tones with an experimental edge. Her sound transcends genre boundaries, oscillating between experimental electronic music and dark wave. With dreamy melodies woven into her compositions, ORA ET LABORA's work reflects a unique fusion of introspection and energy. By mixing dreamy melodic compositions, synthesizers, echoing vOcals, and electric drums, she crafts a soundscape that transports her surroundings on a journey through mutable, fairy-like frameworks. Yasmin Nebenführ: Carved Up (2020/2025) @yasmin.nebenfuhr Reflecting on the micro and macro, the visible and invisible, Carved Up considers how landscape and representation can be reimagined through scale and perception. By digitally manipulating found microscopic images of tree fibres, the work transforms organic structures into abstract, textural landscapes. The re-presented images move between familiar and unfamiliar terrains, questioning the differences between natural form and constructed interpretations of these micrographs. Yasmin Nebenführ is an Australian photo-media artist based in Berlin, Germany. Engaging with themes of entropy, the passage of time, decay, and macro and micro locations; her experimental practice incorporates digital and analogue techniques to present abstract imagery. Predominantly working with extensive collections of found imagery, Yasmin utilises her archiving work experience throughout her practice and constantly seeks new ways to transform and re-present images and their narratives. Yasmin is a 2016 graduate of RMIT’s Bachelor of Fine Art, where she majored in Print Imaging Practice. Currently, Yasmin works for Berlin art institutions and facilitates photography workshops surrounding the archive and its potential. Laura Săvuțiu: Pillows on Pillars (Video installation, 2024) @lori.mer Chantal Akerman —pre-eminent filmmaker, artist, writer; better yet: Chantal Akerman —translator. Of and between times, spaces, media, stories, personal narratives. Of margins to and for the center. Of intimacies into collective concerns. Always at the limit, always at the border and the edge between one thing and another. “Pillows on Pillars” echoes a theme that spans much of her work, namely: the artist’s self-representation as no less than a whirling vacillation between disclosing one’s intimate, more-than-domestic space and appropriating—and thereby bringing closer to oneself—outside media, felt as external, even: pernicious. It’s this constant to-and-fro that my installation aims to represent, between the familiar and the unknown, mania and depression, noise and its absence. Laura Săvuțiu is a graduate of the Bucharest-based film and theater school UNATC „I.L. Caragiale“, where she specialized in film directing and was particularly drawn to the more theoretical aspects of cinema. She is currently interested in the ways that film, mixed media, archival studies, and image theory intersect and overlap. Vincent Forstenlechner: Ammentu (2025 – ongoing) @v_forsten The project Ammentu takes a poetic approach to Sardinia's landscape transformation processes. In a photographic discourse, different perspectives on the historical mining regions in the south of the Mediterranean island are linked together. Between industrial ruins and relics of historical architecture, metal-tainted rivers run through the vegetation; elsewhere, scientific laboratories find a new home in disused mines. The central question is how the past shapes the present and future of a mediterranean landscape - a landscape that is constantly changing whilst adopting new meanings. The exhibition installation provides a perspective on the essay film of the same name, Ammentu, which will be released at the end of 2025. Director: Vincent Forstenlechner DOP: Philipp Reiterer To & assistance: Jakob Kaufmann Supported by the Province of Salzburg (AUT) & Universita degli Studi di Cagliari (IT) Vincent Forstenlechner (*1996 in Salzburg) is a visual artist and photographer who currently lives in Vienna. In his projects, he deals with the interconnection of memory and place through the media of photography and film. In particular, he focuses on how changes in landscapes and architecture shape our society. He often chooses a documentary photographic approach and combines this with staged and abstract imagery to create new ways of looking at the seemingly natural. His works have been exhibited at the Fotogalerie Wien, Photon Gallery Ljubljana, Foto Forum Bolzano, FOTOHOF Salzburg and KHM Wien, among others. Selected works can also be found in the collections of the Salzburg Museum and the Province of Salzburg. His commissioned works have been published in ZEIT Magazin, ZEIT, FAZ Quarterly and Standard ALBUM, among others. Dalmonia Rognean: Restless draft in undried hollow (2025) @dalmoniarognean Restless draft in undried hollow’ draws from Baroque, an era shaped by a fractured worldview after the Catholic Church’s split in 1517. As the old order collapsed, a void emerged—ready to be filled with absolutist agendas. Baroque’s excess and ephemerality showcase endless possibilities through constant repetition and change. Emptiness becomes a central scene, where perpetually newly (re)born horizons of expectations unfold. Architecture, music, stage design, and the choreographed body come together to perform displays of power, using controlled perspective and the affect of togetherness to create hierarchies while highlighting exclusion and inaccessibility. The work examines for whom the gaze is reserved and how it is choreographed—how ‘observing’ is entangled with ‘being observed,’ through means of omissions and additions; how authority is asserted over what is seen, through transient unveilings, setting doubt upon one’s own perception. By reworking both personal and found materials, I explore how historical documentation moves, changes, and shapes access to its information and meaning. Dalmonia Rognean (1993) is a Romanian photographer and visual artist with a background in theatre and film studies, living in Vienna. Her work is deeply rooted in research, visually evolving into a metaphysical and magical atmosphere while maintaining a connection to an empirical approach. Rather than relying on linear narratives, she is interested in world-making. Grounding her images in the language of reality, she expands them beyond it, creating a world where multiple narratives surrounding her concept coexist. She is fascinated by human habits and the beauty that emerges from our ability to transform flaws into fear-confronting rituals. Her work exists between the tangible exterior and a space beyond sensory perception, seamlessly intertwining the effable and the ineffable. Collaborative work is an integral part of her artistic practice. Artwork: Dalmonia Rognean —————————————— OFF GRID DAYS 21. - 24.05.2025 Stadtraum Mitte 15 Rustensteg 1, 1150 Wien

No OFF GRID 2023 :( Due to an internal shift of our funding application at the City of Vienna MA7 to another department, it is no longer possible for us to hold the festival this year according to our demands and expectations. The Open Call for the OFF GRID Festival, which was planned for September 2023, would have started at the beginning of May. Now we would have to wait until mid-July for a funding commitment, or start blindly waiting for a commitment, but without the certainty of being able to carry out the festival with sufficient financial means in the end. This is an uncertainty for us, our staff and all participating artists that is too severe and forces us into an involuntary break this year. We reject other financing models, such as submission or participation fees and entrance fees. We are sad, but look forward all the more to an OFF GRID 2024. See you soon, all the best, Paul & Sebastian ------ Photo: Ronja Burkard - Untitled, 2021 [Max Mustermann] @ronja_burkard

„Between Naive and Wise“ steht für die Jugendzeit, in der wir weder Kinder noch Erwachsene sind. Die kurze Zeit, in der sich alles plötzlich so viel größer und intensiver anfühlt als sonst. "Between Naive and Wise" represents the adolescent period when we are neither children nor adults. The short time when everything suddenly feels so much bigger and more intense than usual. Verein Fortuna: Intimation @verein.fortuna Künstler: Daniel Hill @drh.photography Während des OFF GRID Festivals zeigt der Verein Fortuna Werke von Daniel Hill zum Thema Selbstporträt Fotografie. Intimation: Eine obskure, indirekte, meist subtile Ahnung oder Andeutung. Das Wesen der Selbstporträt Fotografie ist performativ – eine Kunstform, die Momente während einer Performance des Fotografierenden selbst einfängt. During the OFF GRID Festival Fortuna will host an exhibition by Daniel Hill. The essence of self-portrait photography is performative – a form of art that captures moments during a performance by the photographer themselves.
